How to Enable “OK Google” Detection on Android Wear OS

There are some Wears OS watch faces that allow you to add widgets to the home screen. In my article on how to customize watch faces in Wear OS, I explained how to add the Google Assistant widget to the home screen to quickly perform voice actions with one tap. However, if you want an even faster solution that lets you activate Google Assistant with the keyword “OK Google”, we have good news for you. Years later, Google fixed the “OK Google” detection in Wear OS. On that note, let’s get started and learn how to enable “OK Google” detection on Android Wear OS.

1. First, open Play Store on your Wear OS watch and update the Google app. should be clear version 12.8.4.25 or on. Besides that, update other apps pending in Play Store.

2. Now open Settings and go to System -> About -> System updates. If there is an update pending, download it and install the update on your Android WearOS watch.

3. Now, swipe right on home screen To open the “At a glance” page and scroll to the bottom. Here, tap the “Settings gear” icon and enable the toggle for “Ok Google” detection. Previously, enabling this toggle did nothing, but with the new update fix, the “OK Google” detection will start working again.

4. Now go ahead and say “OK Google” close to the clock and should enable Google Assistant. After that, you can say all the instructions, including Google Assistant commands, to perform anything on your watch.

“OK Google” Detection Not Working on Wear OS? Follow our fix

This is how you can fix “OK Google” detection on Android Wear OS watches. I tried the fix on my Oppo Watch and it didn’t work on the first few tries but after doing a system update and restarting the watch it started working. Having said that, be aware that enabling “OK Google” detection will slow down the clock; so only enable Google Assistant if you use it frequently.
