This quick guide will show you how to change the Galaxy Note 8 lock screen and wallpaper. All customization options are included and use your own images instead of relying on the Samsung theme store.
With a large 6.3 inch Quad-HD display, choosing the right wallpaper makes a big difference. Especially in terms of quality and resolution. We’ll show you how and recommend some of the best places to get cool wallpapers.
For starters, Samsung lets you set a different image for both the lock screen and the home screen. Additionally, they offer tons of customization, app shortcuts, and themes so you can make your phone more personal.
With so many features, controls, and settings, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with the Galaxy Note 8. Once you know everything the Galaxy Note 8 can do, you’ll want to start with easy customizations like the lock screen.
How to Change Galaxy Note 8 Lock Screen and Wallpaper
There are multiple ways to change the background image and wallpaper on Galaxy Note 8. However, when you go to Settings and select Wallpapers & Themes, it can get confusing as it goes to the Samsung theme engine and not somewhere to change the wallpaper.
If you only want to apply your own image for a wallpaper, follow these steps instead of using Samsung’s theme store.
This is the easiest and fastest way to change Galaxy Note 8 wallpaper, no theme store required. Just browse through their pre-loaded images or choose one of your own. Find what you want and hit the apply button. This is how you use the photos on your smartphone.
While most of your own images will work fine, we recommend choosing something at least 1080p HD or higher. Check Samsung’s theme store to find beautiful wallpapers similar to the one shown here, or Download the app called Zedge and browse their collections.
Lock screen Wallpaper
Adding a custom or new image to the lock screen is just as easy. If you didn’t notice in our instructions above, when you select a picture there is an option to use it in multiple areas on your phone. Follow the same steps above for the lock screen. When you find the image you want to use and press the apply button, the phone will ask “Do you want to apply the image to the home screen, lock screen or both?” he will ask.
Choose the best for you. Same image for both lock and home screen or different images for each. I have a Packers lock screen image followed by a dark wallpaper for my home screen. Because of the way AMOLED displays display dark colors, dark or black images can save battery life on Samsung devices.
Samsung Theme Store
You can also go to Settings > Wallpaper & Themes and find tons of themes, wallpapers, live wallpapers, custom icons, and more.
However, it is not very user friendly and difficult to understand. Samsung’s theme store has a selection of beautiful photos, themes, and custom icons. We really like the option to use a different image for the lock screen and home screen. You can have a single image for the lock screen and an image like an animated “live wallpaper” for everything else. Find the one you want, hit download and then select Apply.
We recommend browsing the gallery as there are tons of great images and options to choose from. Once you find a good one, just download it and hit the apply button. The app will let owners choose whether to go to the lock screen or home screen background as expected.
Don’t forget to check the theme list. These change the entire look and feel of the Galaxy Note 8. Everything from icons, settings menu, backgrounds, text, font and more.
Try customizing the onscreen navigation keys or turn off the Always On display while you change things. Make sure to enable full screen support for apps on Galaxy Note 8 and enjoy your new phone.
