PS5: How will this new feature save you time installing games?

The latest PS5 firmware gets its share of new features like updating wireless controllers, adding Discord and reorganizing the library. But one of them got a little overlooked: probability using data from a physical disc to play a title purchased online.

This feature was spotted on Twitter by the famous Wario64. The concept is simple, if you have a game installed on your console via a physical disk, The data is available if you buy the same game from the online store. This wasn’t the case before as everything had to be redownloaded.

PS5 adds a discreet yet practical feature

The feature was already on Xbox, and it’s coming to Sony’s console this week. We can clearly ask the killing question: What interest? Why buy a digital game when we already have it at home? In reality, this addition can be useful in some situations.

Let’s say a friend loaned you a game and you downloaded it to your PS5. After a few days of fun, it’s time to give it back. You then purchase the game as a bundle to continue. No need to download again. It could also be that we sell a game and regret it a few months later. By purchasing online you avoid the download phase if it is still on the machine. Get this job.

This is a small, unobtrusive feature, so but very practical, especially for those with poor link performance. Granted, it won’t change the face of the world (not even exaggerated by Sony), but it’s still a nice addition for gamers.
