New PS5 Chassis C version: what has changed in Sony’s most up-to-date console?

One of the biggest sources of entertainment in society today is video games. And with the advancement of technology, there has been the improvement of new types of electronics, practically creating a “franchise” based on consoles.

Sony is one of the largest technology companies in the world and one of the leaders in this market, with its success in several devices.

Its latest launch, in 2020, PlayStation 5, took place during the Covid-19 pandemic and is still a huge sales and technology success.

Even so, the ninth-generation console constantly receives new versions without any publicity, they are only presented to the market with hardware and software updates. And the latest update was PS5 Chassis C.

The new version of the PlayStation 5 was recently released and without prior announcement. The PS5 Chassis C has aesthetics and external hardware exactly the same as other previous versions (PS5 Chassis A and B). But that doesn’t mean it works the same way as the others.

As there was no revelation from Sony, the famous YouTuber named Austin Evans revealed to the public, through a video on his channel, the main differences between this new chassis and its predecessors.

Austin reveals that the main changes occurred in the motherboard, cooler and SSD cover. In addition, it is possible to find it on the market for an average price of R$ 4,499.

The device is identified by the CFI 1200 version and this information is hardly ever displayed. Therefore, it is necessary to look for the device details around the box. But let’s look at the improvements.

The PS5 Chassis C is a slightly lighter model compared to the original version. It has a total weight reduction of 500 grams. This is due to the reduction in the size of its electronic components. Therefore, the motherboard has been reduced in size. But the reason is not only the weight of the console.

With the reduction, it was possible to implement a new, smaller and much more efficient heat sink. This way, the new model heats up much less and, consequently, reduces electricity consumption. In addition, the SSD cover was changed to better protect the components.

Is it worth buying?

As the weight has been reduced, making the device lighter, and there is also a cost reduction without changing speed and performance, it can be said that this would be the right investment.

The price difference between the C Chassis and the previous ones is not that significant, so it is worth investing in this upgrade.
