The gaming world was recently shaken by the removal of mod Sentient Streets for “GTA V“, which brought with it advanced generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) resources and aggravated a good portion of the community.
O modder behind this creation, known as Bloc, was surprised by the action of Take-Two Interactive, responsible for the game, which not only removed the mod from the website NexusModsbut also forced the removal of explanatory videos from YouTube.
Realistic and interactive world through mod
Sentient Streets added a layer of artificial intelligence to “GTA V”, enabling the automatic generation of dialogues for the game’s NPCs, making the virtual world more alive and realistic. However, Take-Two Interactive’s intervention cast doubt on the freedom of video game creators. mods and relations between the industry and the community of modding.
Bloc, the creator of mod, expressed his displeasure with Take-Two Interactive’s approach, highlighting that the company acted without even contacting him. He believes that removing the mod and videos was a deliberate, manual act, not the result of an automated moderation system.

The creator of Sentient Streets emphasized his passion for games in the “Grand Theft Auto” series and regretted Take-Two’s attitude towards his mod and to mods in general. Bloc said he would have been more receptive to a less aggressive approach from the company and was willing to engage in dialogue.
Bloc also questioned the justification given for removing the explanatory videos from YouTube. He pointed out that there are a plethora of videos related to “GTA V” available on the platform, which makes the explanation insufficient and suggests that the intervention was specifically aimed at his mod.
One of the characteristics of Sentient Streets was that it was open-source, allowing anyone to download it for free. When installed, the mod enriched players’ experience by adding automatically generated dialogue for NPCs, contributing to the game’s atmosphere.
Bloc regretted not having the resources to legally defend itself in this situation, as it is a modder who works independently in his free time. He also mentioned the history of friction between the Rockstar Gamesdeveloper of “GTA V”, and the community of creators mods.
However, he highlighted that recently Rockstar has shown more interest in supporting development projects mods famous, like GTA RP.
The removal of Sentient Streets not only sparked discussions about the balance between the creative community of mods and developers’ rights, but also highlighted the importance of a more open dialogue between interested parties, in order to foster healthier and more beneficial collaboration for everyone involved in the gaming universe.
