Mass Effect 3 planet scanning gives you a way to collect war assets and increase your Total Military Power; This is what you’ll need if you want to succeed in the final battle with the Reapers. As you search through the various clusters, you’ll discover war assets, artifacts, intelligence, credits, and fuel locations, all used to improve your military standing, and how much of these you can collect will have a direct impact on Mass Effect. 3 endings you can use. You also need to be vigilant when scanning planets in Mass Effect 3, because the Reapers are constantly watching and they will be warned if you keep searching in the wrong places.
That’s why we know these items are required in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which means you’ll want to collect as many items as you can before the big final fight. However, if you recklessly scan every planet you see, the Reapers will eventually become fully alert and come after you, meaning you’ll have to leave the system immediately. Reapers may seem slow at first, but they speed up quickly, and it won’t take long to catch up with you unless you quickly get out of there. In addition, once Reapers have been alerted within a system, you will need to go elsewhere and complete another quest before they can safely return for further investigation. That’s why it’s worth using our Mass Effect 3 planetary scan guide so you know where to look and can (probably) get in and out without any problems.
As it will soon become clear, not all of these clusters are accessible in the Mass Effect 3 planet scan from the beginning of the game. There will be new clusters unlocked as you progress through the story or complete side quests, while others will not be available until you receive a specific quest such as the N7 assignment from Traynor. If a cluster listed here isn’t available to you, dig a little further in the campaign before checking back to check that it’s now unlocked.
Entities in this guide are listed as they appear in the images from left to right, and non-planet locations in the center indicate shipwrecks that provide varying amounts of fuel during research. Clusters are listed in alphabetical order for ease of finding, and the number of resources they contain is shown in parentheses afterward. If a particular set is not listed, there is no useful item to be found there and you can safely skip it.
