After the massive hacking of GTA 6 and Rockstar’s servers, it’s Riot Games’ turn to fall victim to a new attack. As the studio explained in a lengthy thread on Twitter, a hackingGet the source codes of League of Legends, Teamfight Tactic and the American video game giant’s anti-cheat platform.
Riot Games assures that no player data has been compromised
According to Riot’s statements, this cyber-attack took place on January 20 and is likely, the hacker could have managed to obtain this sensitive data through social engineering. In other words, the attacker used different schemes to approach a Riot Games employee who had access to the studio’s systems. Social engineering attacks are commonplace. This technique led to the hacking of Cyberpunk 2077 as well as GTA 6 in February 2021.
According to Riot Games, No personal player or account data was compromised in this attack. Still, the studio states that the game’s two source codes contain experimental features (in the prototype stage) that could see the light of day in the two titles.
