Read on for tons of Fortnite tips and tricks that will show you how to play Fortnite to your strengths, so get on the battle bus, thank the driver, and get ready to jump into battle…

1. You cannot take things from Spawn Island with you

When you enter Spawn Island, you will find weapons, ammo and construction materials to be collected. and you to be able to catch them – but they don’t come with you to the Fortnite map. See Spawn Island as a practice area for how to play Fortnite, but once the game fills up with 100 players, you’ll probably be there for at most a minute. You can shoot anyone in the vicinity, but weapons won’t do any damage or if you’re a makeshift pacifist, try building a quick sniper booth (more details on how to do this in point 8 below).

2. Wait as long as possible to get off the Battle Bus

The Battle Bus’s horn will honk as soon as you land on the map below, but resist the urge to join the crowd of players that bounce off it as soon as possible. Instead, wait until the Battle Bus has about 3 seconds until it reaches the end of its flight path, and then dash out. You’ll have few or no players competing for landing spots, meaning you’re less likely to be hit in the face in the first two minutes of the match. and less competition for loot. Aim for a house or structure as you glide, as there is a good chance there are chests inside, or at least some basic loot. To get inside, just hit the roof with your pickaxe. Speaking of gliders…

3. Your glider will automatically deploy

When falling from the Battle Bus, there is no way to activate your glider later, as it automatically unlocks when you reach a certain height from below. That is all. It only folds up when you land, so be patient and take a nap for the nearest structure.

4. For small shield potions before sticking a big one

You will find both small and large blue bottles around the map, if you use the right trigger to drink these bottles it will give you 25 shields and 50 shields respectively (the same button you use to fire your weapon). Once you have a shield of 50 or higher, you won’t be able to consume any more small bottles, so be sure to drink them first so you don’t leave a gap in your inventory. You can drink large shield potions no matter the level of your shield, so if you only have one of these, go ahead: open the lid and swallow it as soon as possible.

5. Assault rifles or SMGs are good weapons to start with

As a general rule, stick with assault rifles or SMGs when you first learn how to play Fortnite. Sniper rifles are useless below 75 yards, so you may want to have one handy. immortality use in close combat unless absolutely necessary. Another thing to keep in mind when deciding how to play Fortnite is that when shooting/shooting someone up close and personal, you’ll want to prioritize your rifle. Shotgun – surprise surprise – a ton It’s good for damage and one-hit kills, so keep one on hand when exploring homes, basements, or other small areas.

6. Pay attention to the rarity scale

Gray guns are the most common; green, blue, purple, and gold are in ascending order of rarity. Gold weapons are incredibly powerful, so if you see them lying around, don’t miss it. Press the D-pad to reveal your inventory, and if you hover over the weapons you’ll be able to see how much damage they do if you’re having a hard time deciding which one to keep.

7. Play with headphones

Make sure you have a decent pair of headphones placed in your ears, as hearing footsteps (or more likely gunshots) and being able to tell which direction they’re coming from can be the difference between living and being reborn. Rubbish. Knowing which direction players are coming from gives you precious seconds to prepare, whether it’s switching to a shotgun or building a quick cover.

8. Build cover before healing

When I was about construction, always, always, Always Build walls around you before you start healing. Both healing and shield potions take precious seconds to consume (up to 10 seconds for a large healing kit), during which you can’t really move, shoot, or really do anything except rotate the camera. This means you are really very vulnerable, so these walls will stop any bullets that land on your face. Walls can also break into cliffs and hills, so there is no need to find an empty piece of land.

9. Has over three times the fall damage

This isn’t Borderlands: falling from a significant height (over three floors to be precise – that’s three of the standard walls overlap) will take some of your health, so either build ramps down or try to slide down hills or cliffs.

10. Always try to come out on top in a fight

When things start to get messy and you find yourself in a gunfight with one of the 100 people running around the map, you want to get as high as you can. No, not that way. Make sure you’re above your opponent by setting up ramps in the sky or jumping repeatedly (this has the added benefit of making it harder for you to hit). A good strategy is to build four walls around yourself in a square, then build a ramp on the wall facing your enemy. This will give you a good sniper platform from which you can retreat while reloading. Repeat the building formula upwards (jump under your feet) until you’re in a makeshift tower and gain the upper hand, and you’ll be able to get weapons, grenades, etc.

11. Have grenades, bandages or shield potions in your inventory

It’s worth having at least one of the above items in your toolbar. Grenades are a great way to destroy some of your opponent’s cover, especially if you’re targeting the bottom of their build. Once the lowest level is destroyed, the rest will roll down and leave them exposed, ready for a hail of bullets. Extra heals and shields will come in handy when you’re cornered but aren’t ready to give up or you can share them with your squadmates when they need first aid.

12. Don’t completely destroy trees

Using pickaxes to destroy trees is an important way to get wood for building materials, but don’t completely destroy trees. Instead, stop when the tree’s hit bar has 50 health left, then leaving a trail of destroyed vegetation behind you makes it incredibly easy for other players to follow your trail and hunt you down.

13. No more different types of bombs

We’ve had all sorts of different bombs to try in the past – smoke bombs, boogie bombs, stink bombs, shadow bombs – it all got a little hard to keep track of. However, in Episode 3, things have been greatly simplified because now only standard grenades are available and we all know how they work. Time will tell if different variants of grenades will start making their way back into the game, but for now there are just old-fashioned grenades to throw.

14. Make sure you select the correct mode from the lobby.

When you start the game, it will automatically try to drop you into a squad that fills all the slots with random players. You might want to go solo or drop into a duo instead, so just switch the game mode first. Just above “Play!” will write. no matter what mood you are in.

15. Squatting minimizes the noise your feet make

The sneak is as stealthy as it is sneaky, and being stealthy can be a great way to immerse yourself in that coveted Battle Royale. Keeping yourself hidden is part of the problem, but if you move while crouching, you’ll be moving much quieter than running. This is a very useful trick if you can hear someone nearby because you can turn yourself into a better hiding place before they come after you.

16. You must purchase a Battle Pass to receive most of the rewards.

While there are some perks available without spending a penny, you’ll need the Battle Pass if you want to get the best skins and other items. It costs 950 V-Bucks, meaning you’ll have to buy the smallest pack of V-Bucks at $9.99 / £7.99. After that, it’s enough to play and mark as many missions as possible to start getting yourself some gear.

17. You can break (almost) anything with your pickaxe

If you think that you are stuck in a building or that you are building yourself in a construction, do not worry. You can break (almost) anything with your pickaxe, so start smashing your way out. But be careful, that little red circle icon that appears means you’re making noise and everyone nearby will hear it, so take your time to escape your current riddle.

18. You can change your look, stickers and emoticons in the locker.

All skins, banner icons, gliders, harvesters, loading screen, tracks, emotes, dances, sprays and more live in your Locker. You can toggle these on and off before each match, but you can’t change any of them in the match, so make sure you’re happy with your appearance and equipped items before you drop them.

19. Use the Battle Lab mode to familiarize yourself with the map

One of the most important aspects of improving Fortnite is learning the map. Jumping into public games and battling 99 other players at a time can be pretty tiring if you’re not successful, so switch to Battle Lab mode and then select Build Battle Lab to explore the map the way you want. From Slurpy Swamp to Steamy Stacks and everything in between, you’re in control of the battle royale island. All possible chests and vehicles are guaranteed to appear in the Battle Lab, so you can find out where each chest might be and become familiar with your favorite locations.

20. Get into the habit of collecting stuff while running

While the best aimer will usually come out on top in a fight, it’s absolutely essential to build to give yourself the greatest possible advantage. To build though, you need to have materials that can only be obtained with harvesting materials. Wood is the most common and you can destroy anything from trees and bushes to chairs and wardrobes. Test which builds give you the most supplies, then collect them as you rush from place to place to give yourself maximum resources.
