Gotham Knights coming to PS4?

When the game was first announced on DC FanDome in August 2020, Gotham Knights was included on PS4, Xbox One, PC and next-gen platforms for a planned 2021 release. This was later delayed to 2022 before the current release date of October 25, 2022 was confirmed.

There was no reason to expect any issues with Gotham Knights on PS4, until a press release that coincided with a game trailer posted in May 2022 suddenly stated: “To provide players with the best possible gaming experience, the game will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC and will not be available on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One consoles.” This confirms that the game has skipped previous generation consoles to become a next-gen special edition.

No further information has been released to explain why Gotham Knights is no longer coming out on PS4, but we can speculate on a few possible reasons.
