“Digimon” is a production that became extremely famous in the late 1990s, presenting an incredible adventure starring a group of children who are taken to a world totally different from the one we know.
In this new world, they meet the famous “Digimon”, digital creatures that normally end up going through a process of evolution.
During the time the anime was released in Brazil, it was common for children who watched it to feel attracted by the idea of finding their own Digimon and establishing a friendship with them, since each character had their digital companions in the production.
However, older viewers understand and sympathize more with the protagonists from the anime; understand why.
‘Digimon’ makes more sense for adults
As viewers of the time were maturing and understanding life situations better, “Digimon” became a somewhat more desirable, that is, more attractive, production.
After all, when we imagine that children were kidnapped and taken to an unknown world, without any protection, fear springs up in our hearts, even more so because we know that it was very possible that they would be devoured by some malevolent digimon.
When we observe the reaction of Mimi Tachikawawho constantly needs to be calmed down by her friends and assured that she would, indeed, go away, we are sure that this would be the normal reaction of any of us in a similar situation.
The situation these children found themselves in was disturbing, as they did not have access to any familiar equipment, such as a GPSfor example, to find the way back home.
When we continue to watch “Digimon” in a casual and recurring way, we see it as just another entertaining animated series.
However, when we look at it with a more responsible eye and with a real understanding of the danger, the dimension of the story becomes much more impactful.
The same thing happens when we witness the moments of saying goodbye to children. Adults understand how painful this can be, although children do not fully understand the situation.
For these and other reasons, it is clear that “Digimon” made much more sense to adults than to children.
The series addresses deep themes such as friendshipcourage, responsibility and the challenges of growth, which can be appreciated at different levels of understanding.
Although it is a production aimed at children, its complexity and more mature thoughts make it a work that transcends generations and continues to win admirers to this day.
And for those who want to relive the anime, it is available on Globoplay.
