What lifestyle options should I choose in the character creator?

When you start GTA Online, the first thing you’ll come across is the character creator, where you can choose various lifestyle options to determine how your character spends a typical 24 hours. These change your player stats and to some extent your appearance, but in all honesty the effect is minimal and has little effect on the actual gameplay, so you should focus on the appearance part of the character creator instead – you will spend a lot of time looking at your avatar and once your overall look is locked, other changes It can be very expensive to make, so make sure you’re happy before you start the game. You’ll also be able to try the GTA Online Career Builder, which will help you get off to a good cash start.

Can you skip the GTA Online tutorial?

After creating your character, you will board the plane to Los Santos International Airport and start the training section. You may see a prompt with the option to skip the GTA Online tutorial, but you definitely shouldn’t as it is an invaluable introduction to the mechanics of the online world. Lamar Davies will pick you up and guide you through the basics including races, quests, shopping and robberies, as well as introduce you to a few other useful contacts. Players have also had issues in the past getting missions they need to complete if they skip the tutorial, so make sure you play from start to finish as it really isn’t that long.

What should I do next?

After the training is complete, the whole world of GTA Online opens to you in Free Roam mode and you can do whatever you want. This is the perfect opportunity to get out and explore, so you can see exactly what’s on offer. A good activity to start with is to steal the vehicles and if they’re on the wishlist he sent you, deliver them to Simeon or take them to Los Santos Customs so you can sell them. Both will bring you profit, but there will likewise be a time delay before you can fence another vehicle.

How can I stop other players from upsetting me?

Most GTA Online players you encounter will be friendly, but due to the nature of Free Roam sometimes you will find people who just want to cause chaos. This can be especially frustrating if you want to walk and explore the streets of Los Santos, but another player is chasing you and constantly hitting/crushing/blowing you up. If you find yourself in this situation, there are a few steps you can take to improve things.

First, if you open the Interaction Menu (long press the M or PS4 touchpad or XBO view button on PC) and scroll down, you can Activate Passive Mode. This will stop other players from interacting with you, but you won’t be able to use any weapons or melee attacks in return. If this is affecting your current activities, you can pause and then go to the Online -> Players menu, highlight the player in question, and then choose to Hit to suggest signing them out – if enough other players agree and do the same, they will be removed. Finally, if you just want to get away from them, pause and choose Online -> Find New Session or choose a Job to skip and you’ll leave the troublesome gamer behind.

How do I restore my health, armor and ammo?

As in GTA 5, your character’s status is measured by two factors, health and armor, which are shown as green and blue bars, respectively, under your radar. To improve your health, you can consume snacks by purchasing them from vending machines. You can easily buy and stock them by visiting grocery stores, then open the Interaction menu and select the Snack Inventory to top up your meals and health on the go.

Body armor is purchased from AmmuNation stores and again this can be stored in your Inventory and equipped as needed. You can choose what type of body armor is displayed on your character, or choose none if you prefer not to interfere with your current outfit – showing or hiding your armor will not affect the armor bar. While ammo is sold in AmmuNation, you can also purchase it from the Inventory menu, and while a convenience fee is added to the cost if you take this route, it’s definitely worth it if you’re running out of ammo during a combat.
