At the beginning of the summer, Blizzard made an announcement that surprised many people. The reign of legendary launcher Battle.net is coming to an end. The studio, which will gradually release its games on Steam, will also provide the opportunity for players who want to leave Battle.net behind. If the latter is far from the worst launcher on PC, we must admit a certain convenience in finding all, or at least the majority, of its games in the same application.
“While Battle.net remains a priority for us today and in the future, we understand that players want to turn to Steam for some of our games.” Blizzard later announced. The first game to appear on the Steam page was Overwatch 2, which was released on the platform on August 10. On October 17, it will be Diablo 4’s turn to join it in the Valve launcher.
Diablo 4 also joins Steam
Indeed, the Steam page for the latest installment of the cult saga has appeared on Steam, indicating that the game will go on sale in mid-October. So Blizzard, quite logically, chooses to give its newest games a “transition” to Steam. At this time, it is not yet known whether other games will also qualify for the Battle.net version.
However, we can expect other games to come to Steam, as Blizzard mentioned “a range of games” in its statement a few months ago. Will it be possible to see World of Warcraft coming to Valve one day? This needs to be verified as the MMO’s subscription system could complicate things. But when it comes to other Blizzard games, anything is possible.
