Apparently, in the latest revelations made by Marvel in relation to Spiderverse, we will have the opportunity to check out this multiverse from a new perspective, since the Spider-Man has been the central character.
But, meanwhile, in previous narratives, such as “Spider-Verse” and “Spider-Geddon”, the idea is raised that the Web of Life and Destiny, responsible for providing all Spider-Men with their powers, is capable of giving a great structure to the multiverse.
Thus, according to this context, everything indicates that Earth-001, the place where the Web is, is in reality just a point of origin for all other dimensions within Marvel narratives, the place where the stories take place.
We first saw Earth-001 over the course of a crossover in “Spider-Verse” as a “nexus of the multiverse”, that is, an alternate reality where the Web of Life and Destiny is located.
The Web is nothing more than a kind of three-dimensional construction in space that has approximately five dimensions, which act as a type of model for the entire multiverse.
Thus, the Web provides the multiverse with its own structure, in addition to making displacements within its different realities possible, even reaching Spider Totems, which have the function of correcting some parts of the Web.
From the beginning of everything until now, there has never been any explanation about the Web, much less the reason why it is not on Earth-616, the place seen as the core of Marvel and the most important within the multiverse.
Therefore, the choice of Earth-001 suggested that its role was directly linked to the nexus, but this hypothesis was completely wrong, as there was much more behind it all.
In one of the narratives that appear about the Web, we can mention “A Single Thread”, created by Dan Slott, Paco Medina and Brian Reber, contained in “Edge of the Spider-Verse #2”.
In it, we saw that the Web was designed by an elder named Neith, from Earth-001. For those who are unfamiliar with the concept of the Web, it refers to a kind of “celestial map of humanity”, a construction that holds all destiny.
However, creation still allows for chaos to exist, so humanity would still be able to possess free will. And, according to the context, the reason the Web is on Earth-001 and not Earth-616 is because it is simply the center of the universe. The story states that Neith’s main task is to “decide the shape of the universe.”
Despite this, even if it has two meanings, it is very difficult to believe that this will be extended only to Earth-001, since the Web is a multiversal construction. In other words, it is there that everything originated, a fact that makes the place the most important of all.
This all fits with the clues provided by Marvel regarding the multiverse. If we take into account that the different realities use the same multiversal designations, the multiverse needs to have a shared structure to support it.
While Earth-616 may still be among the most important, it cannot be seen as the first. Therefore, all of this still suggests that we will soon see the Elder Gods matrix in “A Single Thread,” as they came before the multiverse even developed.
There is no denying that there are still many answers missing, for example, the fact that there are alternative versions of Earth-616 or if we can believe that there is only one in the entire multiverse, outside the Web of Life and Destiny?
Ultimately, even if we don’t have these answers now, we are certain that Neith, together with the Spider Totems, can maintain the survival of the multiverse.
