What a season 27 year old leg spinner Kuldeep Yadav is having for the Delhi Capitals! Last season Kuldeep Yadav was part of the championship twice Calcutta Knight Riders. He represented the Knights from 2014 to 2021 before being picked up by DC at the 2022 mega-auction.
At the beginning of his fascination with KKR, he so brilliantly embarked on a deadly partnership with fellow WestIndian spinner Sunil Narine. But in the 2019 season, Yadav had lost all his confidence and was experiencing a weak patch in his career. He eventually lost his place in the starting 11 to young Varun Chakraborty.
But the 2021 campaign was the darkest for the current Delhi spinner. The 2021 IPL was played in two parts due to the Covid pandemic, but Yadav did not make a single appearance for the Knights in the season. Another shocking decision by the Knights was to play in front of Harbhajan Singh and Shakib Al Hasan when they played three spinners at Chepauk.

Here are the words of former coach Kuldeep Yadav about his time at KKR:

Childhood coach and mentor Kapil Dev Pandey told TOI that his career might have gone completely off track if he had continued with the Knights.
“KKR did a great job by releasing Kuldeep. It worked really well in Kuldeep’s favor. Had Kuldeep been there for one more season, he would have been severely diminished as a cricketer. (KKR) held him for a year and then they didn’t give him a chance, which was pretty shocking.”
“When selected by DC at the last player auction (for a base price of Rs 2), I told him not to see the price at which he was bought. I just said ‘you have a great team and you’re set up and you’ll have ample opportunity to showcase your talent’. “I just want to perform in the IPL and come back to the Indian team in all formats,” he said. He was hungry for luck.”
Ahead of the 2022 IPL season, KKR plans to release Kuldeep Yadav and Sunil Narine, Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russelland Varun Chakravarthy in front of the spinner.
Kuldeep had set the base price as 1 cr before the auction. Delhi Capitals managed to get their services by doubling their set price. The 27-year-old got off to a fantastic start with his new team in this edition of the IPL. He has already collected 17 wickets and is currently chasing Chahal’s purple hat for the tournament’s leading wicket.
