India faces South Africa in the first T20I of the five-game series on Thursday 9 June at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. With half a century of hits from R vav der Dussen and David Miller, South Africa defeated India by seven wickets. India could have passed Afghanistan as the first country to win the most consecutive games. The defeat, however, ended India’s 12-game winning streak.
India was asked to hit first and got off to a good start. Ishan Kishan became the top scorer with 11 quads and 3 sixes with 48 balls and 76 runs. other opener Ruturaj Gaikwad short out on the field, he scored 23 points from 15 balls. Shreyas Iyer’s 36 points from 27 balls helped India post 156 points in 16.1. In the end, India put a big target of 211 on the scoreboard.
South Africa’s Quinton de Kock and captain Temba Bavuma scored 22 and 18 points respectively. Bhuvneshwar Kumar sacked Bavuma, giving the first wicket to India, while Axar Patel sacked Kock. Dwaine Pretorius quickly hit 29 of the 13 balls, smashing a four and a 4 six before Harshal Patel’s full hit choked him.
David Miller was in tremendous form at the recently concluded IPL 2022, which fans took a look at. His kicks helped new team Gujarat Titas to take the trophy. He continues to play with that form and smashed 64 unbeaten runs in 31 balls in 4 fours and five sixes. However, it was Rassie van der Dussen who scored the most goals for the team with 46 with 75 shots in 7 fours and 5 sixes. With India in full control of the match, these two players stayed on the pitch and comfortably chased the big goal.
