“Ab jake aaya mere bechain dil ko decision” – Twitter explodes with congratulations as Sri Lanka crowns Asian Cup CHAMPIONS for the 6th time by beating Pakistan

As they are the strongest team on the continent, the cricket community definitely expected to watch the regular India-Pakistan match in the 2022 Asian Cup final, but it’s a game of momentum and Sri Lanka checked everything to secure their sixth title.

The Pakistani players did not expect Bhanuka Rajapaksa to shine like a diamond under pressure when he sent half of the players to the locker room. His 45 ball 71 runs (including six fours and three sixes) hits allowed the Lankans to put a competitive 170/6 on the 20 allotted overs. Not to forget Wanindu Hasanga’s critical 21 ball 36 runs, he fired five four and six shots to advance Lankan’s strikes along with Rajapaksa to a good score.

When Pakistan came out to chase, they faced the wrath of Hassanga and the young pacer Pramod Madushan. Madushan first stunned the Pakistani captain Babar Azam (5 of 6), then sent the dangerous ship back. Fakhar Zaman on the golden duck on the next ball.

Opener Mohammad Rizwan, on the other hand, stuck to the crease as Pakistan continued to lose wickets on the other hand. Rizwan and his team may see his slow kick as one of the reasons for Pakistan’s failure.

Iftikar Ahmed left after 31 hits in 32 laps and Pakistan’s middle order, a concern for the team, was only able to add a few single digits to the chase. Pakistan had a lot of runs to score and very few goals remained. The Lankans knew this was the match as they finally stood up to run enthusiastically on the ground to celebrate.

Damageanga took three important strongholds in a row, while Madushan (4/34) stunned the top row and did the rest not to forget Chamika Karunaratne’s two strongholds and Maheesh Theekshana’s sole. These bowlers and world class fieldwork were the reasons Sri Lanka defended 171 runs and lifted the 2022 Asian Cup title.
