“A clinical performance!” – Twitter exploded as Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill’s kicks completely outstripped Zimbabwe by 10 wickets

In the first ODI between India and Zimbabwe, he completely crushed the hosts by 10 wickets, the first at Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe on August 18.

Indian bowlers who chose to go bowling first limited Zimbabwe to just 189 runs in 40.3 overs. Deepak Chahar and Prasidh Krishna and Axar Patel who made their comeback with three wickets also got three wickets respectively.

India responded with a 192-person partnership with Shikhar Dhawan. shubman gillBoth scored their half-century goals. Dhawan played 113 balls to make 81 runs, including nine borders, while Gill scored 82 runs from 72 balls, including 10 borders and unders. No Zimbabwean bowler made any headway with a wicket kick and India easily chased the goal with just 30.5 extras.

Shikhar Dhawan also completed 6500 runs in ODI format. And its partnership with Gill is also the second highest first wicket stand in ODI cricket history for India.

“I enjoy shooting with Young (Gill) and I feel like a teenager too,” Dhawan said in a post-match conversation with the broadcaster. “I enjoyed the consistency from the West Indies,” he added.

“Once I was prepared, I knew I was going to go after the bowlers. So I wanted to spin the strike and then accelerate it. My rhythm with Gill settled nicely. The way he hits the ball and the way he watches the shot is beautiful. It showed consistency in transforming the fifties into bigger hands,” he said.

This was the first match of the three-game ODI series, where India and India played their last series before qualifying for the Asian Cup, which kicks off on 28 August.
