“Are we going to be upset?” – Twitter reacts to Colin Ackermann’s late guest appearance helping the Netherlands post a good total against South Africa

Quick hits from Colin Ackermann and Tim Cooper helped the Netherlands set a good 159 against South Africa at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, November 6th. Both teams are playing their last game in the Super 12 stage. A win against the Netherlands will take Proteas to the semi-finals.

Proteas captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to play first. Dutch openers Stephen Myburgh and Max O’Dowd got their team off to a fast start, scoring 58 points for the opening stand, until Aiden Markram Myburgh made his first breakthrough by knocking out Aiden Markram Myburgh in the ninth round.

Markram swung the ball, which Myburgh tried to sweep quickly but smashed straight, and the ball flew straight into Rilee Rossouw’s hands in the middle of the goal. Myburgh left after 30 balls and 37 points (seven fours).

Meanwhile, O’Dowd had 29 rounds in 31 balls, six and four, before Keshav Maharaj sacked him when the flying ball lifted O’Dowd into the deep extra protection zone but slapped him in the hands of the longstanding fielder Kagiso Rabada.

Cooper became Maharaj’s next victim in the final ball of the 15th round. Maharaj took a slower kick to his leg, Cooper tried to sweep but threw himself off and eventually caught keeper Quinton de Kock in the leg sleeping area. Cooper went to the hut after 35 runs of 19 balls in two fours and two sixes at a stroke rate of 184.21.

Bas de Leede was sacked upon the surrender of Anrich Nortje in the 18th century. Nortje’s fully loaded ball also gave Leede room to play, but the ball hit the logs.
