Siri is now smarter than Amazon Alexa

Loup Ventures has created a regular test for personal assistants of commercially available connected speakers. During this test, the firm asks Google Assistant, Siri, Alexa 800 questions to choose the smartest assistant available. The experts then compare the answers given by the artificial intelligence. Testing was conducted with an iPhone running iOS 12.4 and a Pixel XL running Android 9 Pie.

Siri responds correctly to 83% of requests, compared to 80% for Alexa.

Not surprisingly, Google Assistant once again stands out as the most effective assistant on the market, with 93% of relevant answers. Last year, Google Assistant did not exceed 86%. The assistant understands and correctly answers most questions regardless of the topic.

In number two we find Siri for the first time. iPhone assistant finally made it Passing Alexa with 83% of relevant answers. According to research, Siri has greatly improved in understanding basic phone commands such as calls, sending SMS, sending email or controlling music.

For the first, Amazon Alexa dropped to third place, with only 80% correct answers. The study notes the strong improvement of the assistant, who still had to contend with a 60% success rate last year. It’s worth noting, however, that the tests were not conducted on an Echo speaker, but on a smartphone via the Alexa app. It is not impossible that the choice of environment puts AI at a disadvantage. Do you approve of the results of this study? Surprised by Siri’s progress?
