Reverted to Google Glass version Enterprise Edition, a name that leaves no ambiguity: for now, such devices will be designed for businesses, not the general public. The next generation of connected glasses has long appealed to companies that have equipped themselves with them, although we prefer the Explorer Edition only. In France, for example, the SNCF equipped itself with this in 2014.
Google Glass Enterprise Edition: the return of connected glasses will be at work
Other players, such as DHL or Volkswagen, prefer this type of technology that allows their employees to place very useful information in their immediate vicinity. But by the fall of 2014, the project seemed to have come to a complete standstill. One price is still too high and a number of apps are too low. The glasses also suffered from a pretty bad image with some of the general public, especially due to the possibility of being filmed without their knowledge.
Even a neologism was born in the United States: the “glass holes” pun on Google Glass and the “scum” insult. All in all, the business reorientation seems to be heading in the right direction. Along with the Google Glass Enterprise Edition, the SoC has been improved, the camera resolution has increased to 8 Mpx, and Google promises more autonomy.
It will now be necessary to sign a partnership with Google to acquire Google Glass. Here’s a way to limit the availability of this device to big companies such as Boeing and possibly sell an entire software solution as you can see in this video:
