Amazon and Google aren’t best friends, to say the least. The two American giants compete directly in various categories of products and services, such as Google Home under Google Assistant and Amazon Echo under Alexa. Other devices fighting on similar ground are the Chromecast and Fire TV Stick.
Amazon is accepting Google Chromecast and Chromecast Ultra again
And surprisingly, the 3rd generation Chromecast, which went official in October 2018, is now available on Amazon.com (not Amazon.fr for now). Same for Chromecast Ultra, the premium version of the series. But Amazon has been boycotting its competitors for years. About a year ago, we learned that the Chromecast might finally be available, but we didn’t really believe it anymore, seeing as nothing happened without communication from one of the two parties.

Now that we really don’t know why a policy change was made, the Chromecast’s arrival on Amazon was entirely discretionary. Their prices are the same as the recommended price found in the Google store or at most retailers. It is Amazon that sells and manages the delivery, no third-party organizations involved. Items are eligible for two-day delivery via Amazon Prime Membership.
As a reminder, Chromecast allows users without a smart TV to cast audio and video content from another device (PC, tablet, smartphone) to the television screen. Netflix, Spotify, Chrome, YouTube and many more include compatible apps. There’s no Amazon Video though, so don’t mess around.
