YouTube Shorts, the video platform’s answer to TikTok, has become very popular among users since its launch. A few weeks ago, it noticeably surpassed the 2 billion monthly visitors mark, twice as many as TikTok. However, this is prone to spam in the form of links, and the problem is so serious that the platform soon decided to make links on Shorts unclickable. Whether it’s links in the comments or in the description of the video.
In fact, in recent months, there has been an increase in spam, unwanted content and fraudulent messages on the platform. Fortunately, Google is aware of what’s going on and is taking steps to alleviate the situation.

Google will ban links in short videos
After August 31, Google announced: It will no longer be possible to click on shared links in comments, descriptions, and the YouTube Shorts vertical livestream. “ As abuse tactics evolve rapidly, we must take preventive measures to prevent scammers and spammers from misleading or defrauding users through links. » indicates YouTube.
Meanwhile, starting from August 23 A new section of the YouTube app will be available to creators where they can place clickable links. Google also promises that by the end of September, creators will be able to securely add links to other YouTube content.
Now YouTube will require channels to publish their links in a special area. However, not everyone may like this change, as links can now be accessed from the channel page and not from individual videos. Smaller YouTube creators may be the first to feel the effects of this change, especially if their channels are supported by external sponsors.
