Why You Shouldn’t Get a Galaxy S6 Right Now

Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge are two of the best smartphones you can buy. You should not buy them right now. While these two flagships may sound extremely tempting, it’s in your best interest to stay away, at least for now. Here is why.

Earlier this year, Samsung took the stage at Mobile World Congress 2015 and announced the successor to last year’s Galaxy S5. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have gained a huge fan base, with Samsung raising the bar in many areas, including design.

The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were launched in April and immediately became the top two contenders in our eyes and others. They’re now a few months away from their release, and they remain excellent smartphones and two devices you should consider as your next smartphone. If you can help, you shouldn’t be buying them right now.

Now is a bad time to buy a good phone. This is a line we’ve been using for the past few days as we’ve been flooded with questions about phone upgrades and the Galaxy S6 with many of our friends, family, and readers. We have recommended these two phones to many people since April, but cannot recommend them at this time.

There are several reasons for this, and we want to dive right into them. Here’s why you shouldn’t buy the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 right now. Keywords: Right now. We’re not telling you to stay away from these phones completely. We say you should hold out for a few more weeks, unless your situation is dire.

Galaxy Note 5 Release Date

There are several reasons why we think you should stop buying the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge. One of the best reasons though is the imminent launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, a successor to the Galaxy Note 4 that we think will be attractive to those considering the Galaxy S6 as their next device.

Samsung has not confirmed the Galaxy Note 5 and has not confirmed a specific launch date. But thanks to the rumors, we know a lot about the device, including its supposed announcement date.

The Galaxy Note 5 launch date is expected to take place on August 12. This is much sooner than many people expect. Samsung has often used IFA to announce its Galaxy Note, but it looks like the company wants to get a head start on Apple and the iPhone 6s Plus.

Multiple reports point to a launch in August, so there’s reason to believe Samsung is planning an early launch. This benefits those who are currently looking for a new phone. It also helps that the Galaxy Note 5’s release date is said to be August 21st. Again, much earlier than usual.

What this means is that in a few weeks you should have another Galaxy smartphone option at your disposal and a solid option. The Galaxy Note lineup has always been solid, and this year’s Galaxy Note 5 feels like it could be a bloated version of the Galaxy S6. with S Pen. And some other bells and whistles.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, an S Pen stylus that looks and feels like a real pen, a massive 4,000mAh battery, a brand new Exynos 7 processor powered by 4GB of RAM, and the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6. A premium design that reflects the Edge.

It will be bigger and maybe more expensive than the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, but we still think it’s worth the wait. Galaxy Notes only come once a year, which means you’re in the perfect position. Wait if possible and then weigh the Galaxy Note 5 next to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. An informed decision is always the best decision.

Galaxy S6 Edge+

The Galaxy Note 5 will reportedly have a company, and this company will be of interest to those of you who are considering buying the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Samsung is said to be preparing a larger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge, dubbed Galaxy S6 Edge+ or Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. It won’t be a Galaxy Note, meaning it won’t have an S Pen, but it will come with the same curved screen found on the Galaxy S6 Edge. It will only be much larger: 5.7 inches.

It is expected to have the same Quad HD resolution as the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, and will reportedly pack a host of other high-end features including a large battery, 16MP camera and more. It photo leak will show you how the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will look alongside the smaller model.

This major version of the Galaxy S6 Edge is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Note 5. It is also expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Note 5 in August. We think both are worth the wait.

iPhone 6s Release Coming Soon

They won’t run Android, but we still think the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are worth the wait if you can handle it.

Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are two of the Galaxy S6’s biggest rivals. The iPhone 6 Plus (and its 5.5-inch screen) is also the Galaxy Note’s best competitor. The company is said to have two new iPhones on the way, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6s and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus. Both are expected to include numerous upgrades, and both are expected to arrive in the next few weeks.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are expected to include new display technology, improved rear and front cameras, iOS 9 and more. Basically, they will be powered versions of existing iPhone models. That’s a good thing because the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are two of the best phones on the market.

We still haven’t set an announcement date, but there’s a good chance Apple will announce them in September. This is not long at all.

Note that the prices of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will drop just before and just after the launch of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s, giving you two more affordable alternatives to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

OnePlus Two Launch

If you want to buy much earlier than that, we recommend waiting until at least July 27. On that day, OnePlus will announce the brand new OnePlus Two, a successor to last year’s popular OnePlus One, a device that will likely be attractive to those who want a high-powered device at no additional cost.

This OnePlus Two launch confirmed on the 27th and that’s where we’ll learn more about the rumored device. We hear it will have a 5.5-inch display with tons of horsepower. Moreover, the company has confirmed that the device will be priced under $450 without contract. This is cheaper than the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

Last year’s OnePlus One was a pleasant surprise, and it will be interesting to see if the company can repeat its magic in 2015. We only have a few days before we find out.

Google’s Nexus Plans

Google is expected to launch at least one, maybe two new Nexus smartphones this year. The two devices seem to be excellent alternatives to top smartphones, including the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6, so if you’re not in love with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, you might consider waiting.

Nexus 2015 rumors point to a new Nexus 5 from LG and a larger Nexus phone from Chinese manufacturer Huawei. Both devices are expected to be powerful successors to the Nexus 6. It is also expected to be announced alongside Android M, which is said to launch in August but is likely to arrive in September. This is not a long wait at all.

The Nexus lineup is still very attractive, and LG’s Nexus 5 is one of our favorite phones. We think these releases are worth the wait.

Galaxy S6 Deals

We’re already seeing deals for the regular Galaxy S6 and should see more unfold in the next few weeks. Maybe bigger and better deals.

When the Galaxy Note 5 arrives, we should see retailers and perhaps carriers offer some deals for the regular Galaxy S6. Expect big deals after the iPhone 6s launch as retailers scramble to make the Galaxy S6 an attractive alternative to Apple’s new flagship.

If you buy the Galaxy S6 right now, you’re probably going to overpay for it.

Galaxy S6 Edge Deals

Same thing with the Galaxy S6 Edge, probably worse. It’s an expensive phone, $299.99 in some places, and most of you won’t want to pay that much and you shouldn’t.

While we’ve seen a number of Galaxy S6 deals pop up, we haven’t seen much for the curved variant. That’s exactly why we think it’s worth the wait to see if this expensive phone gets a little cheaper. We think this will be on the way with the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy Note 5 and iPhone 6s Plus.
