Why You Shouldn’t Buy the Pixel 2 XL Yet

You shouldn’t buy the Pixel 2 XL just yet. There are too many screen glitches and issues to gamble with on this phone until Google realizes what they are doing with the phone. The smaller Pixel 2 remains a good buy, but with screen quirks and now a week on fire, it’s a tough pass on the Pixel 2 XL. Here’s what’s going on and why you shouldn’t buy this phone yet.

Google has responded to this issue by extending the warranty to two years, detailing the software’s color management plans, and will replace phones with burn-in issues under warranty. You can find more information about these changes here: Pixel User Community.

Some reviewers and users complained of display issues when the Pixel 2 XL first went on sale, but that didn’t affect all users, and Google says they’re working on a potential software update that will allow users to change their color profile. It’s potentially frustrating, but it’s not an absolute deal breaker, although it’s an issue with the main way you see and interact with your $849 phone.

The latest issue is screen burn-in, which set in just a week after receiving the phone. The Android buttons at the bottom of the screen are lit on the screen, so you can see traces of the button when there shouldn’t be any. So far our Pixel XL 2 screen is not showing the burn-in, but so far there are enough complaints that you should wait to buy the Pixel 2 XL. This is how they look.

It’s possible that we’re looking at ghosting that can go away and not burn, but whatever the technical term, this is an issue that you should wait for to be addressed and fixed before buying a new Pixel 2 XL. . talk to Android Centera Google spokesperson talked about how great the display is, saying, “We’ve undergone extensive quality testing of all our products before they’re released and in the manufacture of each unit. We’re actively investigating this report.”

If you already have it, you can look at an all-black picture or a red picture to see if your Pixel 2 XL is burning, but if you’re thinking of buying one, you’ll have to wait. Do not try to fix any burn using apps from the Google Play store.

There is a possibility that Google may remember the Pixel 2 XL or launch a replacement plan for users experiencing it, but nothing has been confirmed yet. We also don’t know how they would process an exchange or refund for Google Play in such a case.

You only have 14 days to return the Pixel 2 XL to Google for a refund, and Verizon also offers a 14-day return policy, but you’ll have to pay a $35 restocking fee. This is a very limited window for an issue that will potentially not be fully resolved before the end of the month. Add in that the best Pixel 2 XL deals require you to trade in your old phone and you may be left to buy a new phone right away instead of choosing the Pixel 2 XL alternative you want.

While Google has made it easy to transition from your iPhone or an existing Android phone to the Pixel, it’s not something you’ll want to do again a week after you get your new phone.

You should avoid buying the Pixel 2 XL until Google clarifies this issue further and offers a solution for current and future owners. The Pixel 2 doesn’t suffer from the same issues and is still considered a good buy.
