The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9 remain two of the best phones you can buy right now, but we don’t recommend buying one, and here’s why. They have big screens, powerful software and great cameras, which makes them very attractive, but we recommend waiting.
There are plenty of phones for buyers to choose from right now, and even more are on the way. While there’s always something better coming soon, February and March aren’t a good time to buy a new phone.
Because we started a new year with great phones and new technologies on the way. We’re not just talking about the upcoming Galaxy S10, either. There are actually a few different reasons why we recommend waiting before you buy anything today.
Samsung Galaxy S10 Edition
No one blames you if you bought a Galaxy S9 or Galaxy Note 9 right now, these are great phones. For every reason worth buying the Galaxy S9, upcoming phones have even more reasons to wait. The biggest is the inevitable Galaxy S10 release.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 will come in at least three different sizes, one with a total of five cameras. They add larger screens to a thinner design with almost no bezels, meaning the front is all-screen. We’re also getting bigger batteries, the latest Android 9 Pie software, and stunning camera specs this year.
In just a few days on February 20, Samsung will announce the 5.8-inch Galaxy S10 Lite, 6.1-inch Galaxy S10 and the even bigger and better 6.4-inch Galaxy S10+. These will be the same size as the Galaxy S9 and Note 9, or smaller thanks to the lack of bezels at the top and bottom of the phone. As you can see above, the front is completely screen. They will be available for purchase on March 8.
If you wait a few weeks, you’ll have the option to buy the latest and greatest phone Samsung has to offer. It will be a similar experience to the Galaxy S9, only better in every way. And if you don’t like the camera cutouts inside the screen, or if the Galaxy S10 is too expensive, the Galaxy S9 will see huge discounts when it arrives. Or you can get the flat screen Galaxy S10E.
Flat Screen Galaxy S10 “E” Coming
Do you hate curved screens on smartphones? All of Samsung’s phones have curved glass where the screen bends from the edge of the device to the bezel. It looks great, but it makes phones thinner, smaller, harder to type and more fragile. I love my curved screen but I know a few people who would definitely not buy one.
We have good news. As we mentioned above, Samsung is launching three different Galaxy S10 phones this year. One of them has a 5.8 inch flat screen like the Galaxy S6, Note 5 or other phones. The edges will NOT be curved, but it will still have tons of cool features.
Flat screen Galaxy S10 Lite (E)
The Galaxy S10 Lite (or Galaxy S10E) will arrive on February 20 along with the others, will be the most affordable model of the bunch, will have a flat screen, but will still have a dual camera on the back and work great. The only potential downside is the side-mounted fingerprint scanner on the power button. It’s not an in-screen sensor. However, this can be a plus as this technology is still new.
OnePlus 7 Coming Soon
One of the most exciting smartphones of 2019 will likely be the upcoming OnePlus 7, just behind Samsung’s Galaxy S10 lineup. OnePlus is fast becoming a household name, and at the end of last year they started rolling out their great phone on T-Mobile and with support from Verizon Wireless.
It will give the upcoming OnePlus 7, Galaxy S9, Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S10+ and even the 2019 iPhone more bang for their buck. Any bezel will have a huge screen with no notches or cutouts. It will be one of the most powerful and fastest phones on the market and cheaper than any of its competitors.

What made them famous was offering premium flagship smartphones 40-50% cheaper than others, and that will continue with the OnePlus 7 in 2019. I’m so excited for this phone, this may be the first. device that will take me away from Samsung in a few years.
As you can see, the front is all screen. They placed the front-facing camera in the body, behind the screen that slides down whenever you need to take a selfie. In this way, there will be no notches or cuts on the screen. It’s a unique approach that we’ve seen a few times, but never on a device that’s probably coming to the US for $600 or less. 5G Almost Arrived
The future of wireless communications, technology and gadgets is 5G. These days we use 4G LTE to surf the web, watch videos and experience games, VR, apps and more on our mobile devices. How quickly the internet delivers these experiences to our phones, tablets, TVs and more. However, something faster is coming in 2019, which is 5G.
While the OnePlus 7 and regular Galaxy S10 probably won’t have 5G, certain models of these phones will. We’re expecting 5G devices by the end of the year from Samsung, OnePlus, Motorola, LG and possibly a few others. I don’t think anyone should wait and wait for the Galaxy S9 or even the Galaxy S10 specifically for 5G, but it’s something to consider.
If you’re looking for the biggest, best, fastest and considering the Galaxy Note 9, you may want to wait a few more months to see how realistic 5G will be in a phone this year. This is just a thought.
LG G8, iPhone 11 and More
As we said earlier, there are several great smartphones coming out in 2019. Whether it’s LG’s latest device, a new Motorola phone with a pluggable MotoMod that expands functionality, or even the iPhone 11. you wait a bit.
We’re just getting into the meat of 2019, a new year with new products, technologies, services, software and features. Lots of things are coming. Things you may or may not want to expect and enjoy.
Basically, don’t buy the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy Note 9 right now. If you’ve already waited 11 months or even 6 months on the Note 9, what’s wrong with waiting a little longer? Wait to see what all the other companies are working on this year before you make up your mind and get stuck with a phone that’s almost a year old.
Don’t get me wrong, the Galaxy S9 is a great phone and one that I use every day, but it’s worth the wait until this late instead of buying it today.
