According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature to limit the power of group admins. The latest test version of the messaging app, “Shut down as administrator” or “reject admin“. As the name suggests, this new option will allow other admins of a group to deny one of their own and deny him access. By using this feature, you reduce the administrator to a simple user. To access it, all you have to do is go to the group information and click on the person you want.
Currently the only way to get rid of an admin is to remove them from the group chat before adding them again. When you return to the group, the friend in question is no longer a regular user. This is a very useful feature if you are worried that some of your contacts are harming your group. The only flaw with this new option is that currently any admin can fire the admin who created the group. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will introduce other features to prevent abuse and prevent the original admin from being removed.
The “deny admin” option is currently available in Android beta 2.18.12. WhatsApp is expected to roll out this option to all users in the coming months.
