WhatsApp: Instagram stories coming to messaging app

TechCrunch says a new feature for sharing Instagram stories directly on WhatsApp was being tested in early January 2018. Users thus Instagram story as WhatsApp status. Like messages and content sent via the instant messaging app, Instagram stories are encrypted after they are shared on WhatsApp.

“We’re always testing ways to improve the Instagram experience and make it easy to share any moment with the people you care about,” a spokesperson said. For sending instagram story on whatsappusers will have to go through the Instagram share menu and select “Share to WhatsApp”. They will then need to verify the transaction directly in the messaging app.

Few users are already taking advantage of the functionality that will need to be expanded in the coming weeks and months before it becomes standard. Stories have already reached Facebook, and ties with Instagram were strengthened in the United States in October 2017. The turn to do so in WhatsApp confirms Facebook’s desire to create an ultra-dominant Facebook-Messenger-WhatsApp-Instagram in the market of social networks and messaging apps

It was, of course, Snapchat that launched stories, a feature that has been much appreciated since it was taken over by its rivals in the beginning. Instagram stories are now much more popular than Snapchat stories. Even YouTube wants to start with Reels, a story adaptation that allows creators to share short videos to stay in touch with their community.
