WhatsApp is finally rolling out multi-account feature on the same smartphone, here’s how to take advantage of it

We can say that this functionality is long overdue. WhatsApp has taken the time to add multi-account support to its app, while its competitors have been offering this for a long time. For a long time, to connect to a different account you had to have a second smartphone or, most motivatingly, a certain Android skin that allowed you to install a second version of the app on your phone.

But all these setbacks are now a thing of the past. In June, WhatsApp had already rolled out multi-account support for Business users. Today, the messaging company announced via a blog post that the functionality is being rolled out globally on Android and iOS. Once you receive the update (which, as usual, can take a few hours) you will finally be able to create a second account from your smartphone.

How to add a second WhatsApp account to a single smartphone?

However, a few clarifications need to be made. First of all, if WhatsApp talks about multiple accounts in its blog post, we will have to make do with a single additional account on the same smartphone for now. This limitation is definitely due to the second important point: since you definitely need a phone number to create a WhatsApp account, you will definitely need to have a smartphone that supports dual SIM.

If this is your case, here is the procedure to follow to create a second email account:

• Open What’s up on your smartphone
• Tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner of the screen
• To meet Settings
• Tap the arrow to the right of your name
• choose Add an account
• Follow the on-screen instructions

Now you have a second WhatsApp account on your smartphone, which will be very practical if, for example, you have a professional phone number.
