Currently, the average WhatsApp user can already use this function “change number” transfers account information, settings, and groups from one previous phone number to another. Let your contacts know that you’ve changed your phone number, thanks to WhatsApp!
As shown in the screenshots below, this future feature currently being tested for Android and iOS versions. To use this option, go to: Settings, Account later on change number. Whether you have an iPhone or an Android smartphone, you can choose:
- Notify all contacts in your contacts when a number changes
- Notify only people you chat with (active chat)
- You can also customize the list of people you want to notify.
Groups you belong to will also receive a notification : they are considered a truly active chat, indicates WABetaInfo. Of course, you can also choose not to notify any of your contacts that you have changed your phone number. After the number transfer is complete, a tooltip appears above each conversation that the user mentions, with the new number to use.
