Unlike StopCovid, TousAntiCovid managed to get the support of the French. A few days after it hit the Play Store and App Store, the tracking app has 4.6 million downloads. Proud of this obvious achievement, Emmanuel Macron said that TousAntiCovid will be one of the means of getting out of the second jail.
“Those who continue to work, to successfully exit quarantine and reopen bars and restaurants… we must outnumber the spread of the virus.” He encourages Cédric O, Minister of State for Digital Transition and Electronic Communications, on his behalf. Currently, just over 8% of French have the app installed on their smartphones. To have a significant impact, the 15% threshold must be reached.
TousAntiCovid accidentally shows around 70,000 contaminations
As the app rolled out on French smartphones, a bug came to obscure this unexpected success, our colleagues at BFM TV report. This Wednesday, October 28, A bug causing TousAntiCovid to show bad contamination figures. According to the data published last night, 69,854 people tested positive for Kovid-19 in 24 hours.
However, the official website of Public Health France highlights 36,437 cases detected in 24 hours. It turns out that the contact-tracking app added Wednesday’s numbers to its Tuesday night (33,417) numbers. Adding up the impurity numbers, we indeed get to 69,854. According to the information gathered by BFM TV, the reason for the error was: “Bad update of data gov database”.
As a reminder, this is not the first victim of TousAntiCovid’s disruptions. Just hours after its arrival, the revisited tracking app fell victim to its own success. The servers broke down in the face of the recorded influx.
