Top 11 Ways to Fix Samsung Notes Not Syncing Issue

Samsung phones come preloaded with many apps and one of them is Samsung Notes. While limited to the Android platform and more specifically Samsung phones, you can view notes created in Samsung Notes on Windows and other Samsung phones. But for some users, Samsung Notes does not sync with other Samsung devices like tablets or OneNote app. If you encounter the same issue, the solutions below should help you fix Samsung Notes not syncing issue.

1. Reboot Phone and Modem

Begin your troubleshooting journey by restarting your Samsung phone or tablet. If you are using a Wi-Fi network to sync notes, reboot the modem as well. For this, unplug the modem and plug it back in after 1 minute.

2. Change Data

Usually the sync issue happens because of a problematic internet connection. To fix this, switch to mobile data if you’re using Wi-Fi and vice versa.

3. Update Samsung Notes App

4. Check the Date and Time

If your Samsung phone or tablet has an incorrect date and time, you will encounter syncing issues not only with the Samsung Notes app but also with other apps. Make sure the correct date and time are set on your phone.

To set the correct time, go to Settings > General Management > Date & time. Enable automatic date and time switching.

5. Resync Samsung Notes

First of all, the sync setting must be enabled for Samsung Notes to sync with Samsung Cloud. If it’s already enabled, you need to disable it and enable it. Let’s check the steps for both.

Stage 1: Open Settings and go to Accounts & backup.

step 2: Tap Samsung Cloud, then tap Synced apps.

Stage 3: Scroll down in synced apps and search for Samsung Notes. Enable the toggle next to Sync under Samsung Notes. If it’s on, turn it off.

Step 4: Restart the phone and open the same toggle. Tap on Sync now.

6. Enable Sync on Mobile Data

Typically, apps are only synced to Samsung Cloud over Wi-Fi. However, you can change the setting and allow apps like Samsung Notes to sync mobile data as well. This setting should be responsible if your notes are not syncing on mobile data.

7. Clear Cache

You should also try clearing the cache for Samsung Cloud and Samsung Notes app. Clearing the cache will not delete any of your unsynced data.

To clear Samsung Cloud cache, follow these steps:

Stage 1: Go to Settings and then Apps.

step 2: Tap Samsung Cloud, then tap Storage.

Stage 3: Tap on Clear cache.

Step 4: Go back and look for Samsung Notes under the list of apps. Tap on it, then Storage > Clear cache.

8. Check Samsung Notes and OneNote Compatibility

Samsung and Microsoft recently joined hands to give users the ability to view Samsung Notes in OneNote feed. The term ‘feed’ is quite important. This is because Samsung Notes do not appear directly as regular notes in the OneNote app. You can only view it in a OneNote or Outlook feed, as we’ll show you below.

First, you need to enable Sync with Microsoft OneNote in the Samsung Notes setting. You will also have to select the folders you want to sync in the setting and customize settings like mobile data and sync using Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and sync while roaming. Once everything is set up correctly, hit the Sync now button.

Next, open outlook.com using a browser and sign in with the same Microsoft account added to Samsung Notes. Click the OneNote feed icon at the top.

You will see your Samsung notes. If you don’t see them, click the Filter icon and select Samsung Notes.

A similar feed is available in the OneNote app. However, not all users will be able to see Samsung Notes there as the feature is still gradually rolled out. Also, the notes are available as images instead of the regular text format.

9. Re-Add Microsoft Account

If only a few notes from Samsung Notes appear in the OneNote stream, you must re-add your Microsoft account. To do this, go to Settings in the Samsung Notes app. Tap on Sync with Microsoft OneNote. On the next screen tap on Sign out. Restart the phone and add Microsoft account again by tapping Sync with Microsoft OneNote in Samsung Notes settings.

10. Sign Out of Samsung Account

Have you recently changed your Samsung accounts password or anything related to it? This could also be the reason why Samsung Notes is not syncing. To fix this, you need to sign out of your Samsung account and add it again.
