Top 10 Apps for Coachella

This week, thousands of people will descend on the Coachella Valley for the annual Coachella Music Festival. Next week, thousands more will join the Polo Grounds for the second week of Coachella. With that in mind, we want to make sure the thousands of people who go are as prepared as possible for Coachella 2015 with some essentials.

Coachella 2015 is finally on our doorstep and that means many of you are starting to prepare for your desert journey. That means stuffing the car or suitcase with food, clothes, drinks, glow sticks and of course your mobile devices. Getting ready for one of the biggest festivals of the year has never been easy, so I want to give you some tips to make your job and your Coachella experience even better.

I’ve been going to Coachella for a few years now and I remember packing my bag with essentials (clothes etc) before leaving but I always forget to pack my phone for the long weekend. Make no mistake, this has been a problem in the past. I lost friends, couldn’t get home after the concert, and missed some early sets. If I had done some preparation before the show, I probably wouldn’t have run into these problems.

I don’t want any of you to run into these issues, especially if you’re participating for the first time. And with just a few days until the show starts, you have plenty of time to get your phone in order. It may sound silly, but you’ll be in so much better shape if you spend some time doing this before you leave. Trust me.

There are tons of apps out there but only a few that I plan to use during the festival. As a Coachella veteran, here are 10 apps that I think will help if you’re attending Coachella this year.

Find My Friends

While some of you may be adept at festivals, some of you won’t, especially those of you who have never been to a festival of this size. Don’t take chances, especially if you’re staying with a friend of a friend’s friend. At the Polo Grounds, it’s essential to know where your friends are, especially after the lights go out and the crowd begins to disperse.

If you’re using an iPhone and at least some of your friends have iPhones, Find My Friends app from the App Store. The app allows you to share your location with your friends and receive location-based alerts. It is much more reliable than leaving a pin at your location.

If you’re using an Android phone, you have a few options. Find My Friends And Find My Friends Two solid options, although there are a number of options available in the Google Play Store.

Find My iPhone/Android Device Manager

I go to Coachella with a group of friends. And for sure, someone in the band always loses their phone before the festival is over. At the show itself, I’ve had friends who lost their phones while driving in taxis and cars. Losing your phone at Coachella can be a nightmare, so you’ll want to prepare as if it’s going to happen.

If you are using an iPhone, you can download find my phone from the App Store. If you are signed in with your Apple ID, you can track your lost iPhone from another device. Apple gives you a number of options.

You can play a sound that you think is stuck in a car seat or seat. You can choose Lost Mode which will lock your phone with your password. Or you can remotely wipe everything on your device if you’re sure it was taken by malicious people. This is especially useful if you use your iPhone for work.

If you’re using an Android phone, you’ll want to meet Google. Android Device Manager. This is the Android equivalent of Apple’s Find My iPhone app.

It doesn’t matter how many times. This can happen to anyone. That’s why you’ll want to become familiar with these apps before the show. They can be lifesavers.

waze

If you’ve been to Coachella before, you know the roads in Indio can be brutal. There are thousands and thousands of people, which means there are tons of cars on the road. Tons of cars on the road can cause traffic, especially in and around the festival.

if you don’t have wazeNow is the time to start using it. Waze will redirect if you encounter traffic on your way to the desert or to the festival. Saved us a ton of time in the past. If you’re driving to the show, you or someone else must have Waze.

uber

If you’re not driving, you’ll probably want to download it. uber application and create an account. Last year, after the show, a few of my friends used Uber and said it worked flawlessly. I highly recommend getting this app even if you don’t plan to ride an Uber. Lyft another option but I didn’t use it at the fair. At least not yet.

Taxi Apps

You should always have a backup plan and in this case the backup plan should be taxis. (Yes, you can also have an Uber backup plan.) The two apps I recommend are; seize And Wheel.

If you can’t find an Uber or aren’t happy with the price, try finding a taxi with one of these apps. Taxis will be circling the Polo Grounds all night.

Google Maps

If you’re close enough, you might consider cycling to the show. I’ve done this over the past three years and it has worked well. One reason is that I am not very familiar with the area. Many of you may not be familiar with La Quinta and Indio and this may be a problem. It’s easy to get lost in the dark and tired. I’ve had friends who showed up an hour late because they went the wrong way. Don’t be this person.

What you will want to do is to know your cycling route in advance. To do this, download and install Google Maps on your phone. Google Maps offers bike directions. Even though I know the area, I stopped to pull out my phone just to be sure. If you’re renting at one of the resorts, this will be very important because there are tons of different ways and everything looks the same.

Official Coachella App

Official Coachella app Updated for 2015 and surprisingly one of the best apps to have on your phone. Even if you consider yourself a Coachella expert, this app is worth the download. Here is why.

The official Coachella app comes with set times and a map.

Having a festive app at your fingertips is essential, especially when the service is terrible. The app comes with a map. It also includes important information about set times, service, and your food and beverage options. Even though I know the Polo Grounds by heart, I constantly check the set times and check the map from time to time.

instagram

You probably have friends who didn’t go to Coachella this year. If you do, it’s a good idea to mock them with pictures and videos from the show. your Instagram great place for that. Don’t just post 50 times a day. Nobody likes it.

Camera+

I try not to be that guy who takes pictures and videos with the phone, but sometimes you just want to capture a moment to immortalize it. Stupid friends, a great song by your favorite band, a sunset in the Sahara tent. If you’re like me, you want these moments to look beautiful.

There are a ton of photo editing apps but I like it Camera+ And afterlight. These apps can turn a scary photo into a decent looking photo and a decent looking photo into a good photo. I’m not the best photographer or videographer in the world, but these apps make me feel so much better about my Coachella content.

SiriusXM

There were times I missed sets, especially if it was early in the day. Well, Coachella is the first time Stream on SiriusXM which means I won’t feel bad if I miss something. This SiriusXM app It’s worth downloading before you go.

If you don’t like this, I recommend downloading Soundcloud. Often times, you can wake up the next day and relive your favorite sets from the night before.
