Zimperium, a company specializing in IT security, warns Android users about alternative app stores to the Play Store in a survey published on August 9, 2021. In these alternative stores, seemingly harmless applications hide terrible malware: FlyTrap. These corrupted apps are also spread through social networks and other apps available on the Google Play Store.
“A new Android Trojan called FlyTrap has hit at least 140 countries and spread to more than 10,000 victims since March 2021.”, explains Zimperium on its site. Apparently the malware is the result of:A pirate gang from Vietnam.

With this information in hand, a skilled hacker could use a Facebook account to spread malware to other phones.

To persuade users to install applications that hide Flytrap, hackers emphasize: fake Netflix promo codes or Google AdWords promo codes. Once installed, the app will ask the user to connect to their Facebook account.
This is where hackers can get their hands on anything they want. “When the user logs in to his/her official account, FlyTrap Trojan captures the login information for malicious purposes., warns the company. As always, we recommend that you be careful when downloading applications outside of the Play Store.
