Tesla has announced a number of new features that will soon be added to its vehicles and app. At the center of changes A completely redesigned user interface for Tesla’s new Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built with AMD chips starting in 2022. The visual overhaul includes an immersive full-screen view for vehicle controls while parked, expanded media playback controls, and the ability to expand viewing screens from Autopilot.
Perhaps the most visible element is the scaled-down map that has been moved to the upper right corner in place of the existing large central map. This allows: Driving visualizations take up more space on the screen while you drive.
The update will also offer: a native Audible app For the first time, Tesla offers owners a built-in way to listen to audiobooks from Amazon’s service. Spotify’s existing integration also benefits from improvements like synchronized queues and adjustable playback speeds across devices.
Other quality-of-life improvements include hands-free trunk opening by standing behind the vehicle with the key from your phone, the ability to view trip details on rear screens, greater potential for regenerative braking on the highway, and a new way to drive. While Tesla’s holiday updates have seemed a little light in recent years, this upcoming spring release looks to be much more generous in terms of features.
