In August 2020, Google introduced a new native feature on Android called Nearby Share. A true alternative to Apple’s famous AirDrop, this technology makes it possible to transfer content (photos, videos, documents, links, etc.) to other nearby devices. This system is based on Bluetooth or WiFi (depending on the available network).
As announced in December 2020, Nearby Share is available to Android smartphone users. easily share apps directly from Play Store. This option, which has been in development for several months, is now available worldwide.
How to share an app from Play Store with a nearby Android smartphone?
Definitely to enjoy Share With Nearby on Play Store Download version 24.0 (or newer). If the update is not automatically installed on your smartphone, we recommend getting the APK from the Play Store. We were able to enable this option on several Android smartphones.
Once this is done, you should be able to use the app sharing feature. To share an app with a phone several meters away, simply follow the procedure below:
- Open Google Play Store
- Tap the three-line menu in the top corner of the screen
- enter inside My apps and games
- select tab To share (To the right of the Library)
- choose To send Where Receive
- press on To continue
- Allow Play Store to access your smartphone’s location
- Check the app you want to share from the list
- Select a recipient from the list of nearby smartphones
- A pairing code appears on the screen. Check if it matches the code that appears on the screen of your interlocutor’s phone.
- A window will show the progress of the transfer
