The next big smartphone to take on the Galaxy S9 and iPhone X soon is the OnePlus 6. Coming May 16. And the company is still it’s happening slowly a household name, millions of potential buyers are eagerly awaiting its next phone. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming OnePlus 6, the bigger screen that will get the notch and the Galaxy S9+.
In November of 2017, the OnePlus 5T hit store shelves. It offers a flagship Galaxy S8-like experience for half the price of the competition. It has an edge-to-edge display and dual rear cameras. But for 2018, the OnePlus 6 will once again increase the screen size without increasing the price.
We expect a larger edge-to-edge display with a “notch” similar to the iPhone X. This provides more screens in roughly the same size package as the OnePlus 5T. Then, expect an advanced camera, high-end specs, a fast new face unlock technology, and more. A launch event has been confirmed for London on May 16, here’s what we’ve heard so far and the latest leaks and rumors.
We’ve seen a few notable OnePlus 6s in the past weeks. rumors, leaksand videos this gives us a good idea of what to expect. The video above confirms the final design and here it is other photo from the popular leaker.
OnePlus 6 Release Date
First things first, when can you buy the OnePlus 6? May 22, most likely. While this is a question we cannot yet answer, all signs point to May 22. We hear that the May 16 launch event and pre-orders will begin immediately.
The OnePlus 5 release date was in June of last year, followed by an improved OnePlus 5T in November. We expect something similar this year.
Basically, we expect a quick release date following the May 16 launch event. OnePlus has a “pop-up” stores on May 22 It’s in New York City and certain regions, so most rumors believe the official release date is May 22. Either way, just wait for pre-orders and sooner or later the phone could be yours.
Bigger OnePlus 6 Display
The biggest change you can expect this year will again be on the screen. And that’s because they follow a trend we hope to see plenty of in 2018, which is the “notch.” Basically, the OnePlus 6 display will look similar to the iPhone X, only with a smaller and more sophisticated notch.
This is the OnePlus 6 and its notch
Last year, OnePlus finally decided to compete with Samsung, LG, Google, and others, offering an edge-to-edge 6-inch display. They’re taking things even further in 2018 and we’re hearing that the OnePlus 6 will feature a beautiful 6.28-inch Quad-HD AMOLED display that will compete with the Samsung Galaxy S9, Note 8, LG G7 and even the upcoming iPhone. 11th.
However, OnePlus will use the popular notch design we’ve seen on Apple and the Essential Phone. This allows them to put a larger screen in a smaller package with fewer bezels at the top and bottom. So, while offering a large screen, the phone will be physically smaller and easier to hold than most phones with this screen size.
So yes, the screen will be stretched as close to the edge of the body as possible. This small notch houses some sensors, the front camera and the speaker. We don’t expect fancy upgrades like the iPhone X here, but the OP still offers a quick face unlock feature that uses the front camera. We also expect some software tricks that will hide the notch.
OnePlus 6 Features and Features
The larger 6.2-inch screen and notch aren’t the only exciting aspects of this phone. And although we’re not sure exactly what will happen yet, we have a good idea. This is because countless leaks share information and technology only advances this much each year. There are so many changes they can make compared to devices like the Galaxy S9.
Above you see another leak of OP6 from Evan Blass on Twitter. This reveals what a built-in premium wooden back looks like instead of a snap-on case like we’ve seen in previous years. However, other leaks show a premium phone with glass on the back, not wood. At the bottom you will notice the large speaker grille and the 3.5mm headphone jack. Other than those few things, this will be a relatively simple yet powerful phone. Here’s what we can expect in terms of features and features.
As you can see, everything above is quite expected. From the bigger screen to the latest processor to more RAM. The only things we don’t know yet are how much RAM, storage amounts and whether OnePlus will add a bigger battery. Considering the screen is larger, the regular 3,300mAh battery they’ve been using for the past few years may not be big enough. We’ll have to wait and see.
And in case you were wondering, yes, it will have a 3.5mm headphone jack. For those who follow, this phone matches the Galaxy S9+ in just about everything. Except for the variable aperture camera.
The company will even launch an official OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers special edition handset in India. We don’t think this will be available in the US unfortunately.
OnePlus 6 Price and Other Details
Last but not least, we want to quickly talk about price. This is because OnePlus is popular for offering impressive flagship phones for half the price of its competitors. People notice when Samsung and Apple charge $700-$900 for phones, and OnePlus costs like $399 or $449.
We expect the same here in 2018 but don’t be surprised if the price goes up like it has in the last two years. The OnePlus 5 was just $479, while the newer OnePlus 5T was just $499 last year. Easily beat most of the competition.
This is OP6
Adding a bigger screen and cutting-edge specs mean we could see something close to $539 for the 64GB model, but we’ll have to wait and see. However, OnePlus might surprise us and set the price at $499 for the 64GB model, $539 for the 128GB and $639 for the 256GB OnePlus 6. We are not sure. This is just an estimate, but don’t be surprised if prices are similar to this.
Either way, a better, faster, improved OnePlus 6 will arrive on May 16 with a notch on the screen. We’ll have to wait for more information on the premium wooden rear design shown in the leaks, the storage details, and whether the company can make groundbreaking changes to the camera. Stay tuned for more details, hands-on videos, and a full review as soon as they’re available. While you’re here, take a look at how the OP6 compares to the LG G7 in our slideshow above. These are two of the best phones available this summer.
