Earlier today, Google officially announced and confirmed two new smartphones for 2015, the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. After months of rumors and speculation, these phones are official and available now. pre-order starts today. In fact, the pre-order page is live now.
The Nexus 6 was announced in October of last year but was not released more than a month later. In 2015 though, Google took a completely different approach with two brand new phones available for purchase right now, working on all US carriers.
As expected, Google took the stage this morning and confirmed that these phones will be available for pre-order starting September 29, but no one expected it to happen right away. It usually takes a few hours, but for those interested, the links below will get you the new Nexus smartphones. Better hurry though as they sell out fast.
Currently, the new Google Store is already taking pre-orders for Google’s new smartphones. Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. Both come in three different colors and different storage options, and this year Google has succeeded by offering accessories, USB Type-C chargers and more ready on day one.
Both the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are fully unlocked and support all major carriers in the United States. That means Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, US Cellular and even Project Fi.
The Nexus 5X comes in three colors Black, White or Mint Blue (Carbon, Quartz or Ice) and starts at $379 for the 16GB model and $429 for the 32GB model, which we recommend. The Nexus 6P is also available in three colors: Black, White, and Silver (Aluminum, Graphite, or Frost) and starts at $499 for the 32GB model, $549 for the 64GB model, and $649 for the 128GB model.
For what it’s worth, the 32GB Nexus 6 was $649 last year, so the Nexus 6P is an excellent deal this year. Here are the links, but you better hurry.
It’s worth noting that the Nexus 6P has been confirmed to ship “late October”, but we’ve already placed an order on the Google Store and it says it “ships” out of the warehouse in 4-5 weeks.
That means it could be sooner, but most likely in late October or early November, just as with past Nexus product launches.
In previous years these smartphones sold out extremely fast, out of stock for weeks and very difficult to get your hands on. Those interested should buy one now or wait for reviews to hit the internet and hope Amazon, Google or other retailers have more in stock.
