Nexus 5 Android 6.0 Update: 10 Things to Know After Two Weeks

We’ve been using Google’s official Nexus 5 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for a few weeks now. And now that we’ve reached the two-week mark, we’d like to take a look at its performance and a few other key details.

In late September, Google confirmed that it plans to roll out the Nexus 5 Android 6.0 update on October 5. On October 5, as promised, the company rolled out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to the Nexus 5 and other Nexus devices.

The company immediately made the Nexus 5 Marshmallow update available through the Android Open Source Project, but confirmed a lengthy and unpredictable OTA rollout. This is standard for Google and Nexus updates.

Two weeks ago I got the Nexus 5 Android 6.0 Marshmallow update from Google. The 400+MB update took about 40 minutes to download and install. Android 6.0 is very similar to Lollipop but it’s a big update and a whole different beast.

Today I want to revisit the Nexus 5 Android 6.0 update and tell you how the update performed on my device two weeks later. This updated review will take a look at the update’s performance in several key areas, including battery life, UI speed, and more.

In addition to the performance review, I want to mention other important things you should know about the Nexus 5 Marshmallow release. The update is still extremely active and there are some things you should know as we dive deeper into the year.
