New Google service available to back up your entire Mac and PC computer

Last month, Google announced a Backup app for computers. Starting today, this app called Backup & Sync is finally available for Mac and PC. The tool allows you to automatically back up selected files and folders to Google Drive or Google Photos cloud. Concretely, this new app combines the two services for greater simplicity.

As with the successful Google Photos app for smartphones, users can choose to save their photos and videos in an optimized format to save storage space or maintain their original quality. It is also possible to sync Drive files on PC and access them from the file explorer or the Drive app on any compatible device (smartphone , tablet or computer), as is the Google Drive app for computer.

Backup and Sync: A Mac and PC app that combines Google Drive and Google Photos

To be fair, Backup and Sync works just fine. Unfortunately storage space price It is very high compared to other similar backup services like Backblaze and Carbonite. But that price gives you the benefit of a service that’s reliable, easy to use, and stamped with the Google seal of quality. In addition, the application is very practical as it allows you to store all your emails, photos, files and all kinds of documents on a single platform.

Google recommends professional users not to download this tool. The firm plans to launch a new solution for businesses called Drive File Stream. The second will be available in Google G Suite later this year. For individuals, the Backup and Sync app is now available for Google Drive and Google Photos at this address.
