Slowly but surely, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop and Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop updates are hitting users in the United States. Today, two more dominoes have fallen since the nation’s fifth-largest carrier began rolling out versions of the Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update and the Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update was first rolled out in February following the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5 updates. A few days later, the company started rolling out the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update. Galaxy Note Edge is the curved version of Galaxy Note 4 available in various countries around the world.
As we move away from their initial release dates, we’re finally starting to see the Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update and the Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update making significant progress. In particular, US carriers have been extremely prolific, and we’ve seen a number of Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Note 3 Lollipop updates roll out. We saw two more today.
There are US Cellular confirmed the start two new Android 5.0 Lollipop rollouts. One for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and another for Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. The carrier’s website says the two updates are rolling out Wi-Fi, but they should also be available via the Samsung Kies app for PC. Samsung Kies will allow Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge users to bypass the OTA distribution process.
The carrier’s Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update and Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update are expected to mirror updates rolled out for other US carriers in recent weeks. That means Google’s new Material Design as well as a number of big time improvements, including bug fixes and other minor changes to the overall look and feel of the operating system.
We haven’t seen US Cellular users provide feedback, but we should note that Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop issues are plaguing users at AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon. Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop problems range from battery life issues to lag and connectivity issues. We’ve also seen users complain about a number of smaller, more isolated issues.
The release of US Cellular means there are only a few Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop updates left to ship to the United States. The T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop update is now the only Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop release left in the United States.
The carrier is currently testing the update behind the scenes, but it’s unclear when the update will begin rolling out to users. Testing is an unpredictable process, and T-Mobile’s release date is likely to come without an early announcement.
As for the Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update, it was recently released for Sprint’s version of the Galaxy Note Edge. This update is currently rolling out to Galaxy Note Edge users and should be finished before the end of April. It usually takes up to a week for the sprint release to be completed.
AT&T also Galaxy Note Edge confirms Lollipop update. The update was confirmed to arrive last week, but details about the release are still scarce. The carrier has not released any details on its website, which means the update remains a secret. At a minimum, an AT&T version of the update should be released.
T-Mobile has also confirmed a Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update, but has yet to receive the update for testing. Verizon is also expected to release a Galaxy Note Edge Lollipop update, but has yet to confirm any details for its users. Look for more details to come after these operators complete their internal testing on the new software.
