The Like Parent App topped the charts over the weekend as parents and kids uploaded photos to see who the kid looks more like.
The free Like Parent app allows users to upload three photos and then see who the kid is more like. It only takes a few seconds to use and is fun, but doesn’t actually do a real job of analyzing your photos.
Here it is, “Check out the person who looks the most like you!” My mother or my father?”
What is Parent Like?
Like Parent is an app that shows the percentage a child is similar to two parents. The app allows a user to take three photos or upload them from the photo gallery and then compare the photos.
After comparing the photos, the user can save the comparison or share it online. When saved, a square photo will appear in the gallery for users to share on Instagram and other social networks.

It is possible to use the compare feature multiple times and with multiple photos. This allows you to control multiple children and even pets as you will find them.
You can download Like Parent from iTunes to the iPhone and there is a Like the parent Android app It’s on Google Play, but it’s not clear if it’s from the same developer.
It’s As If The Parent Isn’t Actually Scanning The Faces
hot on heels How old is the robot Like Parent, which scans your face to try to figure out how old you are, sounds like a great and reasonable idea. With face scanning tools, users can expect some kind of tool to tell which parent a child most resembles.
There is no real face scan in the Like Parent app.
Unfortunately the Like Parent app shows a random percentage on both sides. In the app description “Try this app. It can analyze your face and show you who looks like you the most.”
When you click to see more, the disclaimer states “This app is for entertainment purposes only and does not provide real face scanning functionality” revealing real information.
Like Parent Comments
Like Parent reviews are not flattering on iTunes. Many users are fed up with the lack of real face scanning and the “advanced algorithm” showing a random face even on the same photos.
The Like Parent app is popular even if it has a low rating.
Despite being a popular search and among the top 10 free apps for iPhone, its Parent-Like Rating has dropped to one and a half stars. Tee tying Oo writes a Like Parent review complaining,
“While I know this app is for entertainment purposes only and there is no scientific element applied, I should at least get consistent “entertainment” results for the same images. This app makes a profit by showing ads, but obviously little effort has been put into the software. Developer(s), “When I decided to analyze the same pictures over and over, he should at least try to make a simple algorithm that would provide the same (or at least close) percentage. Every time I analyzed the same pictures I got completely different results, which takes away all the “fun” of the app”
Other reviews offer similar reviews, but some users even find the random nature of the app amusing.
Like Parent Ads and Notifications
Note that there are lots of ads inside the app, and if you use the app multiple times, you will have to browse through the various ads for other apps and services. This is how free apps make money, but can overwhelm users when there are too many ads.
It may prompt you for push notifications when opening the Like Parent app for the first time. An app like this doesn’t need to send notifications to work, so we didn’t give it that permission. Often times, apps that don’t need notifications will ask for permission to send an alert to come back and try the app after you’ve since switched to something else.
