Rumors since November have suggested that LG will take on Samsung with the all-new LG G5 in 2016, but not in terms of release date. However, new information and comments from LG this week suggest that the LG G5 will be announced next month alongside the new Galaxy S7. Here’s what we know right now.
Back in April of last year, the LG G4 was announced in New York, but when it finally arrived on carrier shelves in the United States in June, it hadn’t been released for over a month. It looks like the phone was delayed for a few months while it was ready to arrive shortly after the Galaxy S6 to avoid being overshadowed by the popular manufacturer.
A number of rumors have surfaced about LG’s new G5 smartphone in the past months. An all-aluminum design, three cameras, a second screen like the LG V10, and more. This week we may have a real release date to look forward to.
Rumors about the phone have continued to surface for about 2-3 months and have started to solidify recently, leading many to believe that a release date may be just around the corner. Late last month, Evan Blass, known as @evleaks, revealed more information. VentureBeat.
The details of the phone, which has striking similarities with the LG V10, which was released at the end of 2015, are shared. These are three cameras, a second screen above the main 5.3-inch screen on the front, a fingerprint scanner and an all-metal bezel. He also talked about something called the “magic home,” which we will talk about again in a moment.
Our reports today Korean Times They believe LG has a target release date, or at least a launch date, for the LG G5. Its sources suggest that the LG G5 will be announced and fully unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Spain, which will begin at the end of February. The company has already sent out invitations for the launch party, which will be the same day as Samsung’s Galaxy S7 announcement.
Above are LG’s Mobile World Congress invitations. The “Game Begins” is teased on February 21, the same date that most Galaxy S7s are rumored to launch. It’s worth noting that the event actually started on February 22, so the day before is the date LG plans to unveil its phone before the show.
Samsung did the same with the Galaxy S6 last year, and it caught the attention before the entire trade show event kicked off. LG wants to do the same this year.
So what does all this mean? This means that LG will announce the new LG G5 on February 21, about two months earlier than last year and 4-5 months ahead of the LG G3 from 2014. The company has released its flagship phone earlier and earlier each year. late and this will be the fastest release in LG Mobile history.
Last year LG skipped the event to avoid being overshadowed by Samsung, but this year the company is confident in its product and plans to steal the show. So what can we expect? Rumor has it that the LG G5 will be the same size as last year, but the main screen will not be 5.5 inches. Instead, it will have a 5.3-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD display, a second screen like the LG V10. 8 megapixel front and dual 16 megapixel cameras on the back. This will provide unique camera features, wider angle shots, enhanced video and more. Another new feature will be the fingerprint scanner and modular magic slot.
Above is a recently leaked render. It matches earlier reports that LG has something unique in its work. It looks like the LG G5 will be made entirely of metal, have a massive 3,000mAh battery and, like previous models, a micro SD slot. However, a sliding tray (as pictured above) will be accessible where users can replace the battery, add a larger battery and be modular and accept accessories, action cameras and other options from LG Electronics for health and wellness. The phone will work as always, but there are a few extra tricks up its sleeve.
All said and done, the LG G5 should be way better than last year’s G4, boasting a faster 8-core processor and cutting-edge features like fingerprint scanner, 4GB of RAM, USB Type-C charging and more. LG wants to bring Samsung to the fore in 2016. February 21 is the date when the LG G5 will be announced, but no release date has been confirmed. It likely won’t be on shelves until the end of March, but we’ll have to wait and see.
