As we enter the year, we continue to see rumors of the iPhone 6s pissing off consumers in the United States and around the world. With these early iPhone 6s details in mind, we’d like to take an early look at how the device stacks up against LG’s flagship, the LG G3, last year. This is our very early iPhone 6s and LG G3 comparison.
In 2013, LG released the LG G2 flagship. After years of being secondary to top manufacturers like Samsung and HTC, the LG G2 has brought the company back into the conversation. The LG G2 has achieved this thanks to its unique design, excellent camera and outstanding battery life. It was one of our favorite smartphones of the year.
Last year, LG replaced the LG G2 with the LG G3, a device that builds on the success of the LG G2. The LG G3 was one of our favorite smartphones of the year, and it’s still an option thanks to its outstanding hardware, updated software and budget price. Some retailers offer the LG G3 for free.
It’s been almost a year since the LG G3 was launched, and some LG G3 users are probably considering putting the phone aside for something new. Others are considering making the device their next phone. If you fall into either of these two camps, you’ll likely have your eyes on a number of potential suitors, including the rumored iPhone 6s.
The iPhone 6s isn’t official, but we’re starting to hear whispers about iPhone 6s specs and iPhone 6s release date. There are still many details that remain shrouded in mystery, but we have enough information to make an early comparison with the LG G3.
This early iPhone 6s vs LG G3 comparison will examine the latest iPhone 6s rumors and show you how they compare to the LG G3 at the moment. Here’s what you need to know as you enter May.
iPhone 6s Release Date
If you want to physically compare the LG G3 with the iPhone 6s, know that you’ll probably have to wait a while to do so.
Rumors of the iPhone 6s launch have been few and far between, but we’ve seen a couple emerge in recent weeks, including ones coming out of left field.
One of these rumors incoming hit or miss digital times Who says Apple will release an iPhone 6s in the second half of the year? That’s a broad consideration, but it makes sense given Apple’s release history.
Another rumor comes from very reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. claims Production of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will begin mid to late August. This marks a September launch when Apple launches and launches the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Earlier this week, United Daily News It has released a report outlining possible plans for an iPhone 6s release in Taipei. The publication specifically talks about the chances of the iPhone 6 launching in August.
UDN He cites industry sources for information and cites the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus as the names of the two new iPhone models due in 2015. While consumers may show some interest in an iPhone 7 version, Apple often announces an “S” model. before a major upgrade. While this is possible, we are not yet putting our eggs in the same basket. Apple loves patterns.
view
The LG G3 has a large 5.5 inch Quad HD display that is beautiful and perfectly sized. The overall size of the phone is compatible with 5 inch devices. What this means is that you get screen real estate without the big footprint. That’s one of the reasons we loved and still love the LG G3. For more information on the LG G3 display, please see our full review.
Apple may not have a Quad HD display panel ready for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, but that doesn’t mean the iPhone 6s display will be the same as the Retina HD displays found on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The company is said to have two iPhone 6s models in development, an iPhone 6s and an iPhone 6s Plus. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that screen sizes will remain at 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, respectively. While the size remains the same, Kuo believes Apple will apply Force Touch technology to the new iPhone.
The company’s new Force Touch technology can determine the action the user wants to perform based on the strength of a touch. Apple has built this into the Apple Watch, the new MacBook, and the MacBook Pro Retina. One iPhone 6s rumor suggests it will appear on the iPhone 6s display and another suggests it will be exclusive to the iPhone 6s Plus.
The video above highlights the Force Touch actions within OS X and shows how the new hard press works. On the iPhone 6s, this technology can make it easier to use many apps where users want to see information with a hard tap instead of multiple taps.
Design
Although the LG G3 design appears to be made of metal, it is actually plastic with a faux metal pattern. Despite being plastic, we liked the device’s form factor more than any of the flagship designs of 2014.
It is also worth noting that the curved back plate makes it easy to hold in the hand. It also comes with a microSD card slot and a removable battery for expandable storage; these are two features that the iPhone never had.
We’re in an iPhone “S” year, and not surprisingly, Apple iPhone 6s design rumors point to some modest upgrades for the two flagships.
According to the respected KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi KuoOne of the biggest changes could come to the iPhone 6s’ Touch ID fingerprint sensor:
Expected to launch in 3Q15, we think the new iPhone will be equipped with an upgraded Touch ID module, which Apple (US) aims to offer a better and more secure Apple Pay user experience with fewer read errors. Therefore, in 2015, we increased our Touch ID module shipment by 12.4% to 262 million sets, supported by Apple Pay and new iPhone models.
The LG G3 does not have a fingerprint sensor.
That’s not all. according to Taiwan Economic Daily NewsApple may use the same custom 7000 Series aluminum alloy it uses in the Apple Watch Sport. The alloy is designed to be 60% stronger than most aluminum without any added weight. Apple says the material is very lightweight.
While this post is often inaccurate, trusty Kuo claims that Apple will indeed fix the “Bendgate” issue with different case materials and some changes to the internal mechanical design. He also believes that Apple will add another microphone near the speaker grill for improved sound quality.
like The Wall Street GazetteKuo believes Apple is considering a brand new color for the iPhone 6s. In addition to the white, gray and gold color options that come standard with the iPhone 6, the iPhone 6s may also include a rose gold option. It’s unclear whether this will push the price tag into the territory occupied by the rose gold Apple Watch Edition.
The LG G3 is available in a variety of colors including Metallic Black, Silk White, Shiny Gold, Burgundy Red, and Moon Violet.
Camera
As we mentioned in our review, the LG G3’s 13MP rear camera is extremely robust and comes with a ton of software options that help enhance photos and videos. While the LG G3 camera is still excellent a year after its release, camera technology is advancing rapidly and 2015 will host a host of upgrades for the best flagship phones. Just take a look at the camera features of the LG G4.
Earlier this year, we heard about iPhone 6s camera upgrades, and now we may know more about what Apple can do to deliver better iPhone cameras.
The Wall Street Gazette Apple reportedly acquired LinX, an Israeli Camera technology company that develops cameras for smartphones. While there are some great features that this technology can bring to the iPhone 6s camera, the really exciting part is that it can significantly improve the quality of iPhone photos.
LinX previously described its camera technology as providing better low-light performance, faster exposure. He also said that it can provide the same image quality as a large DSLR camera.
Kuo believes Apple will switch from an 8MP sensor to a larger 12MP camera sensor.
Processor
LG G3 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad Core Processor 2.5 GHz. It provides enough horsepower for most people and helps the device deliver quality battery life.
The iPhone 6s is also said to have some CPU improvements. In a report outlining a special section within Samsung that will focus on display development for Apple, Bloomberg It says Samsung will deliver a brand new iPhone processor for 2015.
This will likely be the Apple A9 processor, which will contain more power than the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, both of which have A8 chips. Early reports also suggest that Apple will increase the RAM from 1GB to 2GB. Kuo also believes that Apple will add 2GB of RAM to the new iPhone. The LG G3 also uses 2GB of RAM.
Software
LG’s G3 runs on Google’s latest Android operating system. Specifically, it uses Android Lollipop, a piece of software still not available for some Android smartphones. LG’s version of Android Lollipop is covered as it runs LG’s custom UI. Check out our review for more information on the software.
Apple’s iPhone 6s won’t run Android Lollipop or any other version of Android. Instead, it will likely run Apple’s new iOS 9. The iOS 9 update is almost confirmed to arrive at WWDC 2015 and is expected to introduce new features, enhancements and more.
The latest iOS 9 release rumors suggest that the update will focus on improving the stability of the operating system. Many iPhone users have been grappling with a slew of bugs since the arrival of iOS 8 in September.
according to a new leak, Apple is working on a new Siri skin that mirrors the colored skin found on the Apple Watch. The update is also expected to include a new background featuring blue and green, as well as a major round of security enhancements.
Apple is known for adding proprietary software to its “S” iPhone models, so chances are very high that the iPhone 6s has something unique, something that Apple uses to promote the phone against competitors like the LG G4 and LG G3.
