Android 14 Developer Preview is here! This morning, Google began rolling out the first user-accessible version of its upcoming smartphone operating system. If you want to know before anyone else what OS has in store for us over the next few months, now is the time.
Some new features have already been announced. We know in particular that Android 14 will block the installation of apps that are no longer updated or turn your smartphone into a webcam. In this article, we will tell you how to install the DP1 operating system.
How to find out if your smartphone is compatible with Android 14?
The first thing, of course, is to check if your smartphone is hosting this first Developer Preview. As usual, Google has opted for placing its Pixels at the forefront of distribution. Be careful though, older models are not suitable. Here is the full list of smartphones that can currently get Android 14:
- Pixel 4a
- Pixel 4a 5G
- Pixel 5
- Pixel 5a
- Pixel 6
- Pixel 6 Pro
- Pixel 6a
- Pixel 7
- Pixel 7 Pro
For others, we’ll have to be a little patient. Google usually expects the DP2 to open the door to other smartphones. See you in a few weeks.
Where can I download the correct version of Android 14?
After making sure that your smartphone is compatible with Android 14 DP1, you will need to download the setup file. This step is very important because choosing the right version for your smartphone is imperative. To make your job easier, we’ve included the download links for each template here:
Now that you have Android 14, you need to prepare your smartphone for installation.
How do you prepare your smartphone to install Android 14?
The last step before the installation still requires a few manipulations so that your smartphone can get Android 14. First of all, you need to enable Developer mode. Here’s how to do this:
- open them Settings from your smartphone
- Go to the bottom section About phone later Software Information
- click 7 times version number To enable Android Developer mode
- When you’re done, come back Settings to find the partition Developer Options
- enable option USB debugging
Next, you need to install ADB on your Windows PC or Mac. Here’s how:

- Unzip the zip file to extract all items. Choose an easily accessible folder, such as Desk
How to install Android 14 on your smartphone?
Now everything is in place for Android 14 installation. All you have to do is follow the steps below, whichever method suits you best.
Method 1: Recovery mode
- Connect your smartphone into your computer’s USB port.
- Open command prompt on your computer
- Type the following command: adb reboot recovery
- Your smartphone should then display no order
- press at the same time power and volume buttons high on your smartphone
- Choose option from menu Apply Update from ADB
- Next, type the following command on your PC: adb devices
- Order tracking: adb sideload file_name.zipReplace ‘file_name’ with the name of the downloaded file for Android 14
- Let your smartphone perform the update, then restart to complete the process
Method 2: Fast boot
- Connect your smartphone into your computer’s USB port.
- Open command prompt on your computer
- Type the following command: restart adb bootloader
- If you are using Windows, run the file flash-all.bat In Android 14 installation folder
- If you’re using macOS or Linux, type the following command: flash all
- Let your smartphone perform the update, then restart to complete the process
Note that these methods only apply to Pixel smartphone owners. For other Android smartphones, the steps will be different. It will indeed go through a GSI release released by Google. As explained above, this is not yet available. We will of course notify you in such a case and update this article with the appropriate method.
