Google Pixel 2 Activity Dump: What to Expect?

Google’s big event is tomorrow, October 4th, where excited fans will get their first official look at the new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. However, that’s not all the search giant will reveal. In this post, we’ll go over everything you need to know about Google’s launch event on October 4.

With two new Pixel smartphones coming to the fore, Google will use the moment to showcase all kinds of new products and software.

For months, leaks and rumors gave clues as to what was to come. Of the two new phones, a new Pixelbook running Chrome OS, another Google Home and potentially Android 8.1 Oreo. Here’s where to watch the event and additional details on each upcoming announcement and product.

Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

First of all, to take on Samsung and Apple, Google will announce two new flagship smartphones. One is the Google Pixel 2, which replaces its first smartphone released in 2016. The smaller Pixel 2 will likely have a 5-inch display and a similar design to last year’s model. That means big bezels like the iPhone 8, dual front-facing speakers, and improved design. However, what’s exciting is the bigger phone. Google’s LG-made Pixel 2 XL will likely feature a 6-inch edge-to-edge OLED display. Both phones feature high-end 12.3-megapixel cameras with the latest specs and hardware, waterproofing, and portrait mode and other software enhancements.

Google’s larger phone has an edge-to-edge display like the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8, as well as dual stereo front speakers. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are a big aspect of tomorrow’s event, but that’s not all we expect to see. These phones run Google’s latest Android Oreo, but will likely have other software features and improvements over stock Android. Many expect the company to release Android 8.1 or Android 8.0.1 Oreo at the event.

Google PixelBook

Another exciting device to be announced on October 4 is the new PixelBook running Chrome OS. Google’s ongoing efforts here aren’t slowing down anytime soon. The Chromebook Pixel and Pixel 2 were two of the best laptops running Google’s thin operating system. rumor for tomorrow.

The PixelBook is essentially an evolution of the Chromebook Pixel 2.

While details are scarce, we expect pricing to be around $1,200 for the base model. Then, additional storage and performance options can go up to $1,700 with 512GB of storage. No potential release date is known and we may only get a preview of this new product.

Google Home Mini

Another focus area of ​​Google is the home with Google Assistant and smart speakers. Look for a major update to the original Google Home with lots of new software features and voice control. However, that’s not all.

Is this the $49 Google Home Mini?

It looks like Google will announce a new, smaller and more affordable Google Home Mini on October 4. We hear that this device will sell for around $49, at least according to one study. Early listing at Walmartand will be released on October 19. The same date is when we heard that the Pixel 2 will be available for sale.

This is a small voice-assisted speaker that runs Google Assistant. It’s a more affordable option for the larger Google Home that aims to take on the Amazon Echo Dot.

Daydream View VR Headset (standalone headset)

Last year, Google entered the virtual reality and augmented reality market with the Daydream View VR headset. Similar to the Samsung Gear VR, this device only works when users place a phone on the front that acts as a screen. Delivering an immersive VR experience on a budget as an alternative to Oculus Rift or HTC Vive.

But we do know that Google is working on at least a few more VR headsets. Several leaks have suggested that a new Daydream View VR 2 headset is coming in addition to a standalone VR headset. What we mean by this is that everything will be built into the headset. A display, WiFi, storage and processor so users don’t need a phone to enjoy the virtual reality experience.

We have no information about the all-in-one VR headset, but the new Daydream View will likely launch with the Pixel 2 and will cost $99.

Other details

Finally, Google may have a few surprises for its October 4th event. Many are waiting for Android 8.1 or Android 8.0.1 Oreo along with a few other app and software changes. One in particular is the Google Lens app, which we got an early preview of at Google I/O earlier this year.

Google Lens is a nice app we’ve all been waiting for, and it will launch on October 4th. Next, there’s a small chance we’ll see a new Pixel tablet, Chromecast devices, or even Android Wear products. However, we haven’t seen any leaks or rumors about anything else at this time.
