Google Messages will soon remove one-time passcode text messages

Google Messages

Dual authentication is now part of our apps. When you connect to a site, it can send you messages. An SMS with a single-use code. Once this code is used it is useless. If you don’t delete it later it will mess up your SMS app. Google can help us fix this problem.

According to XDA Developers site, Google will work To ensure that these messages disappear after 24 hours. Version 6.7.067 of the app therefore offers the option to automatically delete these one-time codes. Note that this only concerns the Google Messages app, not the apps that manufacturers offer on their smartphones.

Messages will not be deleted without your permission because Google will ask you. Get permission before enabling the option. There is no release date yet for this feature, which looks like it could be quite practical. It needs to be in the final design phase and if Google gives the green light, it could come at any time, within a few weeks at the latest.

Double authentication everywhere

SMS is one of the preferred tools for companies to use a dual authentication system. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Uber use it on their services to verify that the user has accessed their account. But there are other ways, either through dedicated apps or just a notification on Android. Facebook, for example, uses this technique when you use its service to connect to a third-party site. Dedicated apps connected to the phone are widely used. One of the pioneers was Blizzard. used the authenticator in the early 2010s to allow players to secure their World of Warcraft or Diablo 3 accounts.

So, do you tend to use this automatic deletion of SMS in the Google app? Let us know in the comments.
