Google Messages v5.3.075 is now available, our colleagues in the 9to5Google report. This new iteration “Verified SMS” (or “verified SMS”) option. For example, when you receive an SMS from a company like your carrier, bank, or shipping company, Google will take care of verifying the identity of the sender.
Google explains on its website that it uses authenticity codes to verify each SMS. If the identity of the firm is verified, a “verified” icon will appear above the received SMS. Users can then rely on the content of the message and click any link. In this case, Google Messages will show an “unverified SMS” icon.
- Open Google Messages
- Click on the dots in the upper right corner of the application
- go to Settings the app
- press on Verified SMS/ Verified SMS
- check box
This security system mainly protects Android users against SMS phishing attempts. Some hackers try to collect your identifiers or banking information by pretending to be your carrier or bank. Please note that this new option is now available worldwide. According to 9to5Google, the option is not yet functional in all countries.
