Whichever platform you use, switching between ecosystems hasn’t always been easy, although in 2015 Apple introduced a handy “Move to iOS” app for Android users looking to switch devices in the Play Store. Google is responding today with a new “Switch to Android” app, It is available on the App Store. We’ve been waiting for it to go live for several months since the app was spotted last summer.
Those who want to change platforms thanks to this new application you no longer need to go to the “Switch to Android” website, already contained instructions for the transition. For now, the site does not refer to the app available in the App Store on iPhone.
How does the Switch to Android app work?
After installing and launching the app, the first prompt asks you to: Connect the Android device you are switching to using the camera to scan the QR code. If not available, there is also the option to connect directly to a device using the WiFi Direct network name and password.
The app guides users through the typical process that new Android device owners will have to go through anyway. This includes backing up contacts, calendar items, and photos. The app also shows users how to disable iMessage before ecosystem switching because iMessage is not available on Android. The app also tells you how Import photos and videos from your iCloud account.
For now, the app doesn’t appear to be visible to all users in the App Store, but Google is expected to make the app available in the next few days. If you want to install it, you can already find it by clicking the link below.
