Google Drive finally lets you use keyboard shortcuts to navigate

Google Drive advanced search

For several years now, Google has no longer hidden its ambition to make its Workspace suite a full-fledged competitor to Office. This was especially true this week, with the addition of a new feature that lets you edit your Docs files at lightning speed. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg, as evidenced by last year’s introduction of offline mode for Drive, which lets you access your files whenever you want.

But Drive was missing a key feature that hopes to be a real alternative to Office, or even Windows: keyboard shortcuts. In fact, to move your files, you had to drag and drop them for a long time until they settled into folders. You’ll agree it’s not very practical, and Google clearly agrees. Today you can use all your favorite keyboard shortcuts in Drive.

Easily copy, cut, paste all your files to Google Drive

Of course we find the great classics CTRL+C, CTRL+V and even CTRL+X, so much so that we wonder why these are not yet available in the application. On this occasion, we have summarized the main shortcuts coming to Drive:

  • CTRL+C: copy a file
  • CTRL+X: cut a file
  • CTRL+V: paste a file
  • CTRL + Shift + V: copy the title of a file
  • CTRL + Shift + V: create a shortcut for a file
  • CTRL+Enter: open the selected file in a new tab

Nothing revolutionary, then, but a change that promises to speed up the workflow of those who use Google Drive on a daily basis. However, please note that these shortcuts only work with the Chrome browser. You can access the list of all keyboard shortcuts available in the application by clicking the link below.
