Google Chrome automatically blocks website notifications

XDA Developers reported that Google is working on new features for Chrome. On Android and PC, web browser automatically block all notifications from websites. The option should appear shortly in Chrome Canary, the browser’s development version. Not surprisingly, Google Chrome primarily targets notifications asking for permission to send you alerts or asking you to accept cookies.

Google Chrome wants to block website notifications by default

On Android, notifications for this policy will be less intrusive. Currently, a notification request displays a dialog that takes up most of your smartphone screen. In the coming months, Chrome will leave Android users with a few screen options.

First, you can opt for a hidden notification that the request made by the site is blocked by default. Second, you can choose to receive a temporary popup. After a few seconds, the request will disappear. Finally, you can also choose to get a small “information bar” at the bottom of your screen with a message that a notification has been blocked. In any case, a “manage” icon will allow you to decide whether you want to continue blocking notifications from this website.

On PC, Chrome displays an unobtrusive icon directly in the address bar. You can set how this icon will appear on the screen in the settings. Here again we find the “manage” icon that will allow you to exclude or accept notifications from a website.

Finally, Google Chrome will also learn from your habits. If you repeatedly dismiss notifications from a site, the browser will automatically block future alerts. Please note that these options are still in development. It is unknown when Google will make these features available in the final version of its browser.
